Scorpio Signature Star Child: Sunny Madeline Sandler

Sunny in arms of dad Adam Sandler
Sunny Madeline, daughter of Jackie and Adam Sandler, is our featured Scorpio Signature Star Child. The Kiddiegram reports are the heart and soul of Kiddiegram, because they were created out of a desire to help you understand and nurture your precious one. A Kiddiegram is truly a "user's manual!"

Sunny is likely an apt name for this little girl, with her south node in the "sunny" sign of  Leo. Right from the start she brings cheer and expressiveness, but her Sun and Mars in Scorpio reveal a serious side with an intense and focused personality, as well as a strong will.

Unless she was born before 3:15 in the morning, Sunny's moon is in the sign of Capricorn, along with Jupiter. Sunny has a supportive trine connection between Jupiter and Saturn in her chart, in the practical earth signs of Capricorn and Virgo, respectively. Coupled with her strong will, she will have an inherent ability to reach high for her goals and desires but still have the common sense necessary to be able to complete those goals rather than just letting them drift away as daydreams.

However, if she feels she is being forced to do something watch out! Saturn is opposed by the rebel planet Uranus in Sunny's chart. She will buck hard and dig her heels in when she's pressed against the wall. More about this from her Kiddiegram:

Saturn opposite Uranus
Sunny Madeline could have more than just run-ins with the Authorities (the school principal, for instance) because she sometimes likes to break rules, stir up controversy, or get the goat of her favorite "tyrant". The truth is, she really chafes against restrictions of any kind and sometimes her resentment of them (especially seemingly mindless or meaningless rules) can reach the boiling point. As a young child, this may occasionally take the form of a fierce kind of obstinance, and in adolescence, some rather stormy times.

Willow Smith Whips Her ... Scalp?

Willow Smith, the 11-year-old daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith who is known for her song "Whip My Hair" is now sporting a new, sleek look:

Willow Smith's Shaved Head * Posted on her WhoSay account
Willow may be young but seems to have been born with a strong sense of style, having already been seen in several show-stopping ensembles on various red carpets, with this look perhaps the edgiest so far.

It is common to find a prominent, recurring theme in a natal chart. In Willow's chart, there is a predominant Scorpio theme. Not only is her Sun and Mercury in Scorpio, but her Venus (a planet that has much to do with our style, what we find beautiful, and how we express our own beauty) is conjunct Pluto, the planet that rules Scorpio. No matter how her style evolves, it will likely always have the continuing thread of Scorpio's edginess and extremity.

It's not just about challenging or shocking others, however, but about expressing something intense and raw. While that sounds quite serious, Venus and Pluto are in the sign of Sagittarius, so there's a bit of an adventurous, "why not try it once?" attitude prevalent in her style as well. Her Sagittarius influence also explains the playfulness in her color schemes.

What will she do next?!

Model Nikki Taylor Welcomes Baby Number Four: Rex Harrison

Pisces Supermodel Niki Taylor's cup overfloweth! With twin teenage boys, and a two-year-old girl, she and her Leo husband Burney Lamar just welcomed their new son, Scorpio Rex Harrison.

Rex has a nice bit of compatibility with both mom and dad. Dad has a Leo Sun, which resonates with Rex's Leo Moon. Rex will deeply enjoy the attention he is paid, especially from dad, which will bolster his feeling of being appreciated. Leo is also a very playful sign, often physically, so one can imagine this daddy lion and his cub having a great time wrestling.

Mom's Moon, as well as her North Node and Neptune, is in the sign of Sagittarius* and Rex has Mercury, Venus, and the North Node in the sign of Sagittarius, making a nice match with mom. They're both learning a similar lesson in this life: the "just go for it" attitude of carefree Sagittarius. Mom's Jupiter in faith-filled Pisces forms a supportive trine to Rex's Sun, so she'll be a great source of encouragement as Rex discovers who he is and who he wants to grow up to be.

Congrats to this beautiful family!

*Niki Taylor's birth time is not publicly known, but the Moon remained in Sagittarius almost all day on the day of her birth, so it is highly likely she has a natal Sagittarius Moon. If not, it would be a Capricorn Moon, a nice match with baby Rex's Capricorn Rising.

Signature Scorpio Star Child: Matilda Ledger

Matilda Ledger, daughter of Michelle Williams and Heath Ledger, is our featured Scorpio "Star Child."

The Kiddiegram reports are the heart and soul of Kiddiegram, because they were created out of a desire to help you understand and nurture your precious one. A Kiddiegram is truly a "user's manual!

Matilda may have the best of both worlds: seeing and being able to handle the real, raw truths in life and the world through her Scorpio Sun, while retaining a naturally buoyant personality--hopeful and optimistic, via Jupiter right on her Sun. While she'll have the ability to look on the bright side, it won't typically be out of naivete, but simply knowing that tomorrow is another day, a good day to try again and hope for good things.

Jupiter tends to exaggerate whatever it touches, and in Scorpio, a sign of extremes, Matilda could have an intense or over-the-top personality, but her down-to-earth Virgo Moon will likely keep her in check. It's also Virgo humility that will balance the possible grandiosity that comes with Jupiter on the Sun. Classic Jupiterian luck coupled with a willingness to work hard (Virgo) will do her well. More about Sun/Jupiter in her Kiddiegram:

Sun conjunct Jupiter
Matilda is an optimistic soul, and her goodwill and generosity make her very well-liked. She enjoys life, expects the best, and freely shares whatever she has with others. Pettiness and smallness do not appeal to her at all. She can be extravagant and wasteful because she has the inner sense that she will always be provided for, or "there is always more where that came from." She needs to learn to have a sense of moderation and proportion, as she tends to overdo (for example, overeat, overspend, etc.).

*Matilda's s birth time is not publicly known, so a sunrise chart was created. However, an exact birth time must be known to calculate the houses and ascendant in a natal chart, so Matilda's Kiddiegram does not include that unknown information.

Gosselin Kids' Growing Pains

People Magazine reported earlier today that two of the Gosselin sextuplets, Collin and Alexis, have been expelled from their private school and are being home taught for the time being, due to "greatly exaggerated reports of bullying and abuse" on their parts. While that can conjure up images of extreme violence in some fantastical minds, Mademoiselle Kiddie wishes not to jump to conclusions and supposes this expulsion could be due to something as simple as violating school rules repeatedly, for example. (especially in a private school that may be more strict). Either way, it has been said that the kids are 'acting out' as a result of difficulty coping with the divorce of their parents.

Mademoiselle Kiddie suspects Venus is behind this story.

When most astrologers, and even most people, think of Venus, they are drawn to the Greek myth of Aphrodite, who was known as the goddess of love and beauty. Astrologers think of Venus as the urge to create relationships based on harmony and similarity. So why would Venus be behind stirring up so much trouble?

Well, if you've ever read the old myths, you'll know that the gods and goddesses don't always behave and even like to stir up trouble with the humans! One such time of trouble can be when the planet that represents that god or goddess goes retrograde (appears to travel backward in the sky for a time), such trouble can often manifest. The planet Venus has been traveling backward through the sign of Scorpio (now briefly back into Libra).

Any time a planet is in retrograde, it is a time to REview and REpair issues that the planet represents. WithDuring the period that Venus is retrograde, we often see challenges in relationships of all kinds, whether it is old friends returning, or letting current relationships go, or dealing with what isn't working in a relationship in order to try and get it fixed. While Venus has been retrograding (since early October) people that have been feeling under-valued and under-appreciated by those around them have been more inclined to speak up about it and in Scorpio, that means in no-uncertain terms! They're not going to take it anymore. And that may be just the kind of issue surfacing with Collin and Alexis.

As Venus has been moving over Scorpio, it has been forming a square (a tense relationship) with their moon in Aquarius, which can push them to rebel (Aquarius) if they feel like their feelings (moon) are not being heard, understood, or valued (Venus). As it formed the square, it also forms a trine (a comfortable relationship) to Uranus and Mars, so Uranus and Mars behaviors are easier to express than the moon behaviors. Therefore, rebellion and disobedience (Uranus), as well as displays of aggression and assertion of one's own will and dominance (Mars in the 1st house) are most likely defense mechanisms for feeling like they don't have an outlet for their feelings. Addressing what's hurting, and especially what makes them feel like their freedoms and individuality are not being respected (which is one thing moon in Aquarius really wants), is a positive way to diffuse and re-direct the impulsive aggression.

Even though there is no report on the other four children being expelled, Mademoiselle Kiddie would not be surprised to find that similar behavior has been showing up in these children, even if it comes out in different situations, since they all share a chart and are all being triggered by Venus simultaneously.

Venus will begin moving forward again on November 19th, at which point she will, even though moving forward, trigger these sensitive spots again before leaving them for a significant length of time. Mademoiselle Kiddie guesses most of December may have these kids 'acting out' as they try to get their needs met.

On twins and more: While all six children have basically the same chart, not all kids respond identically to the same urges, as they all have free will to make their own choices as they interact with the environment, and some people think may even have different inclinations based on past lives where they were not part of sextuplets/identical charts!

Scorpio Ruby Maguire Turns 4!

Scorpio Ruby Maguire turns 4 on November 10th. Hopefully her parents aren't attempting a surprise birthday party this year! Scorpio isn't easily fooled, and Ruby could be called an X-Treme Scorpio, with 5 planets in this sign (that's half her chart!)

Her Mercury, the planet of the mind, information, and curiosity, is one of the five in Scorpio and it's followed closely by Mars, our planet of motivation and passion. This girl could probably make a living as one sharp detective if she so desires. She knows how to find clues and pick up on things that others think they're hiding successfully. She's also passionate about finding out secrets and uncovering truths. Better hide and double wrap the presents, mom and dad!

Unless she was born earlier in the morning, she's likely to have a Leo moon, so a party where she gets a chance to shine and express herself might be very enjoyable for her, but all that Scorpio can make that Leo moon pretty shy. A party at home with close friends is a sure winner.

Happy birthday, Ruby!

Happy Birthday Scorpio Kids!

The Sun is in Scorpio this year from October 22nd to November 22nd. Happy birthday to all those Scorpio kiddos (and their mommies and daddies)!

Kids with prominent Scorpio planets in their charts, especially the Sun and/or the Moon, tend to be very perceptive. Scorpio loves a mystery: whether it's figuring out a traditional 'whodunnit' story, or researching a topic to figure out the elusive answers, they have a need to know that's not so much out of curiosity as out of a desire for truth.

Their 'sixth sense' ability also makes them good at picking up on the sometimes hidden and non-verbal signals that happen in every-day interactions between people and figuring out what's going on beneath the surface. Therefore, one of the most important things a parent can do for their Scorpio child is tell them the truth. Scorpio needs straight talk and honesty, appropriate for their age of course, but not the sugar-coating that might be tempting when parents find themselves on the end of an uncomfortable question from their child!

Willow Smith celebrates her 10th birthday this Halloween! More about Scorpio from Willow's Kiddiegram:

Willow is a child of powerful feelings, emotional extremes, and great sensitivity and depth, sometimes marked by a rather quiet demeanor. At heart she is a very private, even secretive, soul, and her need for a room of her own, or a hideaway in the backyard, or some other personal, unassailable place where she can be alone at times, is quite strong. She may well be sociable and friendly enough, but she likes to be the one in control of when, and with whom, she shares herself.

Her feelings tend to run hot or cold - she loves you or she hates you (sometimes both!), with equal fervor. There is a rather dramatic emotional side to her, and it may seem that she exaggerates her feelings. She is rarely lukewarm.

Dancing with the 'Stars': Meet Kristi Yamaguchi's Kids

Kristi Yamaguchi is best known for winning the gold in the 1992 Olympics as a figure skater, and most recently for winning the 'gold' on Dancing with the Stars in 2008, but Mlle. Kiddie is especially interested in the dance of her and her family's personal stars--their astrology!

Kristi has described herself as shy, not really fitting in but feeling like she belonged when she was on the ice. She's said she didn't mind missing out on social things in school because she had such a focus and a plan. Her life was skating. Off the ice she just tried to 'do her thing and not be noticed', but on the ice, it was "music and freedom and self-expression."

Kristi entered the world with a shy Cancer Sun and Leo south node, which comes with it a big desire to express oneself, often through creative pursuits. But it's also tucked away in the private 12th house, so even though pop astrology may tell us that Leo likes to be the life of the party, Kristi's party was always on the inside, shining through her skating dreams.

Her work with the Make-A-Wish foundation after the Olympics inspired her to open her own foundation in 1996: the Always Dream Foundation, an organization dedicated to giving support to children so they can reach for their own dreams. Kristi says in the opening line of a welcome video at the Always Dream website: "I think a hero is someone who gives from the heart into the community." This sums up perfectly her Sun in Cancer in the 11th house: a hero (Sun) is someone who gives from their heart (Cancer) to the community (11th house). Her basic identity is about nurturing (Cancer) children to achieve their dreams (also 11th house).

Starting with her own kids! When she had her children, Keara and Emma, in 2003 and 2005, respectively, her priorities changed. Of her kids, she says:
"After the first one is born, you think the second one will be the same—but she’s not. Keara is very social, outgoing and adaptable. I see a lot of myself in Emma. She’s Mommy’s girl, like I was. She’s a little shy in social situations until she gets comfortable. Keara is more artistic. She loves imaginary play. Emma has really good athletic ability. She’s physically tough. It will be interesting to see what they choose to do."

Keara is a sociable Libra, with both her Sun and Venus in the sign of Libra. Libra is ruled by Venus, the goddess of love and beauty, and many Librans have a knack for knowing what's beautiful and how to create it. Keara has an extra ace in the hole, however, with the planet Neptune in a harmonious trine with her Sun. Neptune is a planet that connects us to 'the other world' in some way, be it through spirituality, intuition, or imagination.

Keara also has her moon in Sagittarius, a sign that wants to expand as much as it can and experience all it can, so she'll be mostly unstoppable in her enthusiasm. However, she'll benefit from her mom's example of dedication and hard work to make dreams come true since the asteroid Chiron is exactly opposite her Saturn. When we work with our Saturn, we commit to something and make it happen in the real world through our dedication, but with Chiron pulling on it, she may have some trepidation to work out surrounding her own capabilities to accomplish what she dreams.

Emma's Sun is in the sign of Scorpio, a sign that's more about the inner world. Scorpio likes to observe before it acts and with a calculating eye, sum up any situation so it knows what it's in for. With her Venus in Capricorn, she is likely to make friends more easily in structured situations where she knows what's expected of her and relationship foundations are defined rather than just free play, but her curious and talkative Gemini Moon will certainly reveal itself 'once she's comfortable,' as mom has said.

Emma has Mars in the sign of Taurus, which can definitely contribute to strength and physical 'toughness', and which also brings a natural ability toward perseverance and steadiness. Emma's challenge may be keeping focused, as her Gemini Moon will find lots of reasons to be distracted by new interests.

What a beautiful family!

Courtney Cox says daughter Coco is dramatic

"She's very confident and funny. She's so dramatic already. She laughs hard. She pouts hard. She cries hard. She loves hard. If she can't find something, it's the end of the world."

So says mom Courtney Cox of 5-year-old daughter Coco, who Courtney says wouldn't surprise her if she ended up an actress. Coco may be getting a taste of it soon. Mom and Dad, David, have signed up to star in Scream 4 and Coco may make a brief appearance.

What's behind Coco the Drama Princess? A Scorpio South Node in the 5th House. The South Node is often where we can find our comfort zone behaviors, and therefore sometimes where we have a natural talent.

Scorpio is a rather dramatic sign, feeling everything intensely. 'Crying hard and loving hard' come with the territory with Scorpio, which dives deeply into life's experiences and doesn't hold back, even if it feels overwhelming. The 5th house is a very creative house--it's all about living in the present and expressing the self without holding back. So Coco can throw herself deeply (Scorpio) into whatever she's expressing in the moment (5th house) easily, sometimes too easily.

Will she grow up to be an actress? It's not as likely as it may seem at this early age. We tend to grow beyond our south node tendencies as we get older and grow into the rest of our chart, however, the south node is present throughout our lives. Coco has her moon in Taurus, so she's likely to mellow out as she gets older and leave the drama behind. The acting? Maybe, maybe not!

So for now, bring on Scream 4!

Parenting with Astrology: Managing Intensity and Mood Extremes

Amy Herring has been a professional astrologer for 15 years and a proud mother for 5 of those years. She has joyfully accepted Mlle. Kiddie’s gracious offer to share her thoughts once a month here at Kiddie Star Signs. To find out more about Amy and her personal readings for parents and children, visit her website at http://heavenlytruth.com.

Money and fame don’t solve every problem. Celebrity moms have their hopes and worries for their children too. However, I’d like to offer ‘everyday’ moms a chance to see astrology put into action to answer their parenting questions. After all, famous or not, you’re the world to your kids! If you’ve got a question about your child that you’d like Amy to answer, send your questions to amy@heavenlytruth.com.

Nora writes:
Luke has always been, shall we say...high strung. He seems to get easily upset about things not working right and I could also add "exceptionally willful."  He used to always go to extremes in his speech, such as "I'm going to kill daddy" if he was mad at him or hurt his school if he didn't want to wake up to get to preschool, but he has been weaned off of this lately. I am just wondering how to deal with his 'short fuse' in the best way.
Luke has his Sun and Moon conjunct in the sign of Scorpio, from which we can take the elementary keywords of "intensity" and "extremes" right out of any astrology book! In order for Scorpio to understand something, it merges and surrenders completely to it, being overwhelmed and overtaken by it, in many cases.

Scorpio is a sign that represents the desire to experience the depth of something, whether it's life, themselves, or their experiences, stripping away all pretenses or comforting lies that sometimes adults tell themselves to manage their fear so that only the purest truth and deepest expression remains. So this tendency to go to extremes will be tempered with maturity, but remain a constant to who Luke is at his core.

My attention is next drawn to Mars in the context of this question, which is retrograde in Taurus in the 8th house, opposite his Sun and Moon. Mars represents our will, and when we tune into it, it's our ability to affect the world, to know that we have some kind of power in it and over ourselves and our lives. In Taurus, the way that Luke reinforces his will is to stand his ground, to stabilize and reinforce his position. Taurus, like Scorpio, is a fixed sign, so it plants its feet and does not move. Saying he has a stubborn streak is an understatement.

The opposition of Mars to his Sun and Moon, especially as a child, can have him easily overreacting to feelings of having his will thwarted. He's come into this life to learn the depths of his own power, and he will be wrestling with it in himself: what it means to have true power and what one can never have power over (such as other people or certain life situations like preventing death or change). But as a child, he will often experience this power struggle in the simplest way, which is I want something and you are not letting me have it, or vice versa. A person can stand in and represent the struggle he has within himself, until he grows up enough to realize the struggle isn't with others, but within himself, to accept the things he cannot change, for one example.

To get a basic understanding of the underlying, sophisticated dynamics of why Luke needs all this intensity and stubbornness, we can take a brief look at his south node in Libra in the first house. It's possible that Luke has entered the world from a past life orientation of identifying with some of the 'overkill' Libra traits and identified with having to be so delicate with life or with other people that he suffered not being able to be his authentic self in a direct way. He has identified with being in relationship (Libra) where he needs to make sure he is well-liked, and perhaps had to compromise too much of his own desire to be loved for who he is rather than how he can make himself fit into others' desires or expectations of him. This is along with the carefulness of not letting any boats in life be rocked, to always have an even temperament and a pleasant demeanor. Thus he presents a chart in this life that is full of all this heat, this desire to reject anything that sounds like it's been massaged, because he has the intention to learn how not to allow his desire to be liked to compromise his core truth and the naked realities about himself and life.

So how to manage his 'short fuse?' You will know best what works with Luke, so take into account what often sets him off, which is probably feeling like he is being thwarted, like he doesn't have a choice in something. He may project the 'bad guy' characteristics onto whatever he feels is standing in the way of getting what he wants, so perhaps appealing to his Virgo Rising and helping him see that there are always accompanying consequences to what we do and what we want, and it's not just someone saying no to lord power over him, may help, even at his young age.

Helping him express his frustration by hearing what he says, even if it's intense or shocking, can help him not only blow off the steam of the moment's frustration, but also teach him that he is not bad or wrong for feeling these things. You can teach him to communicate and be considerate of others' feelings so he doesn't think he can just take his rage out on whomever happens to be standing near him like a punching bag, but do so without shaming him for what he feels in the first place so that he doesn't internalize his anger and push it inside because the external world will not accept it. This can be a critical piece because he needs to know that you will not take abuse, but nor will you banish him or turn away from him because he is not a good little boy all the time.

A parent may, in a knee-jerk reaction, scold a child for blurting an observation out in an inappropriate way, for instance, like if a child says bluntly "That lady is fat!" So if Luke were to say something like that, again for example, it'd be important to not project any intention on him by saying something like "don't be mean!" when really he didn't intend to be mean, he just wasn't tactful. Yet, you can also teach him awareness of what he says so that he can be considerate of others, without shaming him into feeling like he's done something inherently wrong or that HE is inherently bad.

There is always so much to say, but I hope that's given you a little tidbit. If you are interested in the rest of the story, you can always have a professional reading done for him by visiting my website.
