Signature Libra Star Child: Ramona Sarsgaard

Ramona, soon to be 5-year-old daughter of Peter Sarsgaard and Maggie Gyllenhaal, is our featured Libra "Star Child" and Mlle. Kiddie is delighted to share her entire Kiddiegram report with you. The Kiddiegram reports are the heart and soul of Kiddiegram, because they were created out of a desire to help you understand and nurture your precious one. It's truly a "user's manual!

Ramona is a Libra through and through, with not only the Sun, but also Venus and Mars in Libra close by. Venus is Libra's ruling planet, so it's very strong in Libra, lending grace, social awareness, and charm in large amounts. No doubt she has everyone wrapped around her finger with little effort! Here's more about Venus from Ramona's Kiddiegram report:

Venus in Libra:

Ramona has a considerate, thoughtful way about her, and she makes special efforts to cooperate, accommodate, and harmonize with others. She enjoys being with people and may feel at loose ends without a playmate. She is very well-liked and does not like to do anything to offend anyone, even when that means compromising on something that is important to her.
What makes her even more fascinating is her Aquarius Moon. While Aquarius and Libra are both air signs (intellectually and socially motivated), Libra is about getting along and finding the places inside oneself that are compatible with anyone else to enable interpersonal harmony, Aquarius has almost the opposite purpose: to be an individual. In her heart, Ramona is an individual and she will most easily trust others and feel love for others who love her for who she is, not how cute or accommodating they think she is.

This is a great mix in Ramona's personality: the ability to get along and understand others without losing her own individuality. Sounds like the package many adults search for!

*Ramona's birth time is not publicly known, although she was reported as being born in the afternoon. 3 pm was used for an approximation. However, an exact birth time must be known to calculate the houses and ascendant in a natal chart, so Ramona's Kiddiegram does not include that unknown information.

Happy Birthday Libra Kids!

The Sun is in Libra from September 23rd to October 23rd this year and Mlle. Kiddie wishes them a happy birthday!

Libra is known as the sign of the scales because a Libra child (or adult) needs to feel in balance, which most often reveals itself as a desire and talent for connecting with others and anticipating their needs in relationship, as well as needing harmony in their environments, whether it be between people or simply the 'stuff' in the room.

Libra children are usually adept at relating to others, and like to do things such as sharing and cooperation. They may enjoy time with playmates more than a more reserved or independent sign may, such a Capricorn or Aquarius, because they are always gauging their actions off others' reactions. They make good friends and respond well to requests about showing good manners or including others, and playing fairly. You may hear a Libra child say "it's not fair" more often than others, again because of the understanding of balance and especially chafing when things feel unbalanced.

Because they are so good at connecting with others, they may have a tendency to defer to others too much, whether it's waiting for them to take the lead, or simply letting other, more assertive children 'have their way', which can have Libra children feeling sad. They often need help and encouragement to speak up about their needs and wishes because they get nervous about confrontation and the possibility that others won't like them if they ask for what they want.

Jerry Seinfeld is Raising "Weird Kids"

Jerry Seinfeld is not only funny and weird, he's encouraging his kids to be funny and weird as well. Jerry said in a recent interview:
"I think it's fun to be funny and I push it on the kids, too."
He tells his kids: "Don't be embarrassed. When you're acting silly, it feels weird, but this is what makes life more fun."

His wife, Jessica, also says: "Weird is good," and understanding that helps their kids appreciate and accept all of the unique people that they meet.

Jerry and Jessica have three kids: Sascha (10), Julian (8), and Shepherd (6). Of all three, Julian will probably appreciate the "weird is good" sentiment the most! Often times, the characteristics or situations that make us stand out or feel weird, are where Uranus or the sign Aquarius shows up in an astrological chart. Uranus represents the way we develop our sense of individuality.

Uranus isn't about confidence, necessarily; confidence often comes from many places, such as the astrological Sun. Uranus is where we learn that we can walk our own path, our own 'road less traveled'. We may feel awkward, we may stand out, we may feel we aren't understood, but it's a strong Uranus that enables us to be free to think outside the box and make up our own rules. The sign Aquarius also reflects these experiences and needs.

Julian not only has the Moon in the sign of Aquarius, but he also has three other planets in Aquarius, including Uranus and Mercury close to the Moon. He'll probably be an innovative thinker, and have some kind of ability to come up with unusual and creative ideas, as well as being a creative problem solver. With these planets in the hidden and personal 8th house, he may keep his thoughts to himself, but he's learning to gain confidence and trust himself with Jupiter, the planet of faith and opportunity, in Leo (confidence, charisma) in his first house (self-expression).

In any case, dad Jerry will be a good example for off-the-wall silliness. With Uranus conjunct his south node, he was born weird!

Zuma Nesta Rock ... Rocks!

Gavin Rossdale, frontman for the band Bush, recorded and just released their newest album, The Sea of Memories, under a label with familiar name: Zuma Rock Records! Apparently Zuma rocks more than his name on a label, however. Dad says:

“[Zuma] is really into the guitar. If I’m playing he’ll come and jam with me — he’ll sit with me, it’s really fun. He moves his hands up and down. His positioning and charisma are amazing. He’s so relaxed, looks great and he’s 3!”

Zuma's definitely got the planetary goods to be a star! His creative Leo Sun is perched on his Midheaven, the beginning point of the 10th house, which represents the style of the role we play in the world. Whatever Zuma decides to do, he'll do it with the charisma and flair of a Leo.

He'll also do it with the skill of a Virgo. Zuma has three planets in Virgo, including Mercury and Venus in a close conjunction (right on top of each other). While Mercury is usually thought of as the planet of the mind, it also rules the hands. People with Mercury in one of its home signs, Virgo, often have talent with skills that require good manual dexterity. The fusion of Mercury and Venus also indicates a creative mind and a desire to express oneself artistically, in any chosen form.

Dad also mentioned that while their older son, Gemini Kingston, is "into everything now" and "always busy doing things" (true to Gemini form), Zuma has surprised his parents by having "more focus than [Gwen] and I expected." Thank Scorpio rising, which, working with that hard-working Virgo and the persistence of his Taurus Moon, gives him the ability to hone in on what he wants and focus on it to an almost obsessive level! Or, as obsessive as the height of 3-year-old attention span will allow, of course!

Blossom's Late Bloomers

In an interview for Parent&Child magazine, Mayim Bialik (from TV's Blossom and more recently, The Big Bang Theory) talked about her kids, Miles, 5, and Frederick, 3, and whether they might follow in her footsteps as an actor.
"My boys both like to sing and be playful at home, but whenever a camera is turned on them or even if too much attention comes their way, they will stop immediately and blush. That’s not the exact profile of a child actor!"
It came as a surprise to Mlle. Kiddie, then, to find out that 3-year-old Frederick has an expressive Leo Sun in the 11th house of the public - an astrological sign of a born actor! But Freddie has a Virgo Ascendant, so everything in his chart must 'filter' itself through the Virgo lens.

Virgo is not necessarily a shy energy, but it is rather modest and certainly cautious. Freddie approaches the world carefully and thoughtfully, which can curb the sometimes boisterous energy of Leo. Planets in the 11th house are often said to develop later in life, blossoming over time, so it's likely that after Freddie gets a little life under his belt, he'll find his audience, even if it's not on the screen!

Signature Virgo Star Child: Ella Rae Wahlberg

Ella Rae, 8-year-old daughter of Rhea Durham and actor Mark Wahlberg, is our featured Virgo "Star Child" and Mlle. Kiddie is delighted to share her entire Kiddiegram report with you. The Kiddiegram reports are the heart and soul of Kiddiegram, because they were created out of a desire to help you understand and nurture your precious one. It's truly a "user's manual!"

"What is amazing about [a Kiddiegram], is that you can read it as your child grows. Read it when you get it, then put it away with his birth record. In years to come you both will read it again! Yes, you will be amazed!"

Ella Rae has many Virgo planets in her chart, including Jupiter, Venus, and Mercury, all packed together in her 2nd house. Virgo is a sign that likes to work and achieve, to feel that they are doing well at whatever task they set their mind to. While Virgos tend to be very realistic and analytical in their thinking, they can sometimes be too idealistic in setting their expectations of themselves and others so high that they can get frustrated when they fall short of those expectations and become very discouraged. Virgo can struggle with not feeling good enough but for Ella, with a regal Leo Rising, she will accept nothing less than the best for herself.

With so many planets in her 2nd house, it looks like Ella is working on testing herself, putting her 'money where her mouth is', so to speak. The 2nd house is known as the house of money and resources, but when we look closer we often find that this is a house where we explore our attitudes about worth, which includes our own worth. It's important for Ella to feel that she really has something of value to offer, and it's a key element in her sense of self-worth and esteem.

Virgo children typically like to follow the rules and expectations in order to have a good measure of their progress for reassurance, but Ella is also a little bit of a rebel rule-breaker! With Mars and Uranus in Pisces, opposite her Virgo planets, she is also learning when she needs to throw her hands in the air and just let the chips fall how they will. She may rebel a bit (Uranus) when she becomes too frustrated with the internal pressure of doing everything right, which can provide her with a useful balance. Here's an excerpt from her Kiddiegram about this opposition:

Mars opposite Jupiter

Ella Rae has a great deal of exuberant, restless, rambunctious energy, and she just does not know what to do with it all at times. Her vitality seems exhaustless at times, and she often cannot set limits or contain herself. She tends to have big, even grandiose, ambitions in life.

Happy Birthday Virgo Kids!

The Sun is in Virgo from August 23rd to September 23 this year, which means Mlle. Kiddie is much overdue to wish these youngsters a happy birthday!

Virgo children are keen observers and love to learn. They, like Gemini, are ruled by the planet Mercury, the planet of the mind, but where Gemini goes in many directions, Virgos like to focus and analyze what they see. They catch a lot of details that others miss, and are fascinated with the inner workings and structure of whatever they are examining.

A Virgo child really loves to be helpful. Virgo is the sign of service, so it takes pride in feeling like it has something of worth to offer. It's one of the reasons a Virgo child can get so upset when they feel like they are doing something wrong or failing the objective, whether it's a task or a game. Sometimes they may avoid trying something new out of fear of failing or because they don't like the awkwardness of the learning curve. They are very sensitive to criticism, because they can be so hard on themselves in this regard. They will enjoy clear instructions and rules so they know what expectations they can meet, but they often expect more of themselves than even you do!

Last year we visited the chart of then 2-1/2 year old Valentina Pinault, daughter of beauty Salma Hayek, and found out she wasn't buying the tall tale of Santa Claus. Virgo children can be pretty shrewd! It's hard to pull the wool over their eyes, although if you can spin a tale that seems to make logical sense, they just might go for it. Mlle. Kiddie wonders if Salma has had any luck in her quest!

Parenting with Astrology: Socializing

Amy Herring has been a professional astrologer for 15 years and a proud mother for 6 of those years. She has joyfully accepted Mlle. Kiddie’s gracious offer to share her thoughts once a month here at Kiddie Star Signs. To find out more about Amy and her personal readings for parents and children, visit her website at http://heavenlytruth.com.

Money and fame don’t solve every problem. Celebrity moms have their hopes and worries for their children too. However, Mlle. Kiddie would like to offer ‘everyday’ moms a chance to see astrology put into action to answer their parenting questions. After all, famous or not, you’re the world to your kids! If you’ve got a question about your child that you’d like Amy to answer, send your questions any time to amy@heavenlytruth.com.

Yahaira writes:
My son Gabriel has trouble socializing with other children. A few years ago, his 1st grade teacher told me that she's concerned about him because he keeps to himself at recess and doesn't actively try to play with the other children. She'd partner him up with a friend, but then he would go off by himself again. I know that he feels very lonely at times and feels left out and misunderstood by the other children, but I don't know how to help him or if I can help him.

Does his chart show why he isolates himself?

Amy answers:
Let's look at the broader picture first, and then whittle it down to the practical concern you voiced in your question.

If Gabriel often isolates himself, some of the reasons behind it may not be entirely worrisome. Gabriel has a Capricorn Moon, which tends to be more of a self-sufficient sign. Children with significant Capricorn energy in their charts are often the ones you see playing in their room on their own, content and happy, for hours. Capricorn tends to turn inward on itself, solving its own problems and finding its own entertainment. His moon is also in the first house, called the house of self, which further emphasizes this inner focus.

His Sun, Venus, and Jupiter are all gathered in Leo in the 8th house, which is also a private, inward-focused house. Leo is usually considered a very boisterous and outgoing sign, but not all Leos are loud-mouthed show-offs as their stereotypes would have us believe (nor is every Virgo a fussy, librarian type, nor all Cancers mother to 15 children -- you get the picture). The key element of Leo is self-expression, feeling that they have something in them that wants to shine and expressing themselves in any way they like. Leo is also about self-appreciation in the best sense, but sometimes learning to let yourself shine is a learned behavior, and having enough confidence to not hold yourself back out of fear of what others think. Since this desire to shine is in an inward-focused house, he shines 'inward', for his own pleasure and for those he trusts and can let into those private spaces.

I've always been a believer in the philosophy "your chart isn't what you are, it's what you are learning, practicing, and becoming." So three planets in the self-expressive/self-appreciative sign of Leo, and the self-referencing, independent influence of the Capricorn Moon, tells me that he has a need to build an inner sense of self-appreciation and confidence, not necessarily built on others' praise or opinion, but his own measurements.

The biggest 'culprit' here might be Pluto, as it sits right on his Sagittarius Ascendant. The Ascendant acts as sort of the gateway to us. It is how we interface with the world socially and how we appear to others, how we seem to be. There are many different factors incorporated into that: our demeanor, our style of dress, etc. A Sagittarius Ascendant usually lends a lot of optimism and a devil-may-care demeanor that others find entertaining, but with Pluto guarding this gate, it can take the active, fiery side of Sagittarius and kick it up a few notches. Gabriel may have an intensity about him that can be overwhelming to others, even if he doesn't intend it. If this is the case, he may get negative or off-putting reactions from other children. The intensity may come out in various ways, such as an overtly hyper personality, or more of an undercurrent.

This feedback can make it more difficult for him to make friends, but not impossible. Saturn in his 7th house of friendship indicates it may require a little more work to connect with others, so while he not be one who has a million friends, there are all kinds of different personalities out there to form meaningful connections with one or two best friends.

In short, there's not a lot of cause to worry, although as his mother, you will certainly feel driven to ease his loneliness, understandably! If he's severely anti-social, meaning the problem goes beyond loneliness or feeling a bit of a black sheep, and takes on more extreme behaviors like the inability to empathize with others, or cruelty (beyond the typical child play), that might be cause for real concern. A few social skill hints that are appropriate for his age, or finding a venue that feels more comfortable for him to be social, might be ideas to help him expand his circle, even if it's just to one good friend, but self-validation and independence, even if it comes out of necessity, is greatly useful for him according to his chart.

Alyssa’s Serious Little Dude

Alyssa Milano welcomed her first child with husband, David Bugliari, on the morning of August 31st:

Milo was born while Saturn was in the Moon’s neighborhood; as you can see, they are both very close to Milo’s Libra Ascendant (Saturn right smack on!) The Ascendant is one’s overall approach to life, and how they seem to be to others. With Saturn here, Milo will develop a more serious demeanor. Although his Libra Rising makes him well-versed at knowing the ins and outs of getting along in the social world, he may not be easy to get to know, as his moon, the shy, inner child in us all, is guarded by Saturn and hanging back a bit in the hidden 12th house, with Saturn being more prominent on the ‘stage’ of Milo’s life.

Libra can emphasize a desire to connect with others, but Saturn on the Ascendant suggests a certain amount of self-sufficiency, and his grand trine in earth signs (Sun & Venus in Virgo, trine Jupiter in Taurus, trine Pluto in Capricorn) further suggests self-sufficiency. With Venus and the Sun so close together, it emphasizes the Libra desire to connect with others again, as well as an underlying charm which can soften the sometimes stern or intimidating side of Saturn on the Ascendant. In Virgo (the sign of service) and the 11th house (house of the public and world at large), he will probably grow up to be very thoughtful about ways he can serve others with a strong desire to contribute.

Mars, the planet of our personal will, drive, and action, is in Cancer, which bends an interest toward nurturing, and in the 10th house of public identity and career, he could quite easily become known for his dedication for simply making the world a better place with his own two hands!
