Pisces Signature Star Child: Apollo Bowie Flynn

Apollo Bowie Flynn, third son of rockers Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale, is our Pisces Signature Star Child!

And what a Pisces he is, with Pisces' ruling planet, Neptune, so close to his Sun. Apollo will have an extraordinary imagination thanks to this Pisces/Neptune influence. The fact that his house is probably filled with music thanks to mom and dad will be the perfect soundtrack for his creativity. He may be a great storyteller, amusing his mom and dad with his inventive ideas. Perhaps he'll enlist brother Zuma (the Leo) as an actor to put on shows for his parents when he gets a bit older!

Gwen Stefani
Pisces children tend to be sensitive, sweet, and empathetic and Apollo will be no exception. While sometimes they can also be shy or insecure, Apollo's Sun is in a perfect trine to Jupiter, boosting his confidence in himself and trust in the world. He won't hesitate to leap into life with a big and generous spirit.

Gavin Rossdale
But Apollo's not all tender sweetness--he needs to have a lot of freedom to follow his instincts with an Aries south node and Jupiter in a tense connection with rebel Uranus also in Aries. More from his Kiddiegram:

Jupiter Square Uranus:
Apollo Bowie Flynn seeks to grow through total freedom.  Spontaneous, restless, and eager, he will immediately say yes to almost any festive plan or adventure presented.  He loves to have complete freedom to explore and decide for himself what he thinks, believes, and what makes him happy.  Play will be an important part of his life, even as an adult.

Parenting with Astrology: Dramatic Sensitivity

Amy Herring has been a professional astrologer for 15 years and a proud mother for 7 of those years. She has joyfully accepted Mlle. Kiddie’s gracious offer to share her thoughts once a month here at Kiddie Star Signs. To find out more about Amy and her personal readings for parents and children, visit her website at http://heavenlytruth.com.

Money and fame don’t solve every problem. Celebrity moms have their hopes and worries for their children too. However, Mlle. Kiddie would like to offer ‘everyday’ moms a chance to see astrology put into action to answer their parenting questions. After all, famous or not, you’re the world to your kids! If you’ve got a question about your child that you’d like Amy to answer, send your questions any time to amy@heavenlytruth.com.

Helen writes:
My daughter Elizabeth is very emotionally sensitive. When she has her feelings hurt, she often takes a long time to bounce back, sulks, and cries sometimes for an extended period, seemingly unable to pull herself out of her mood. I want to be sensitive to her feelings but I often feel impatient or bewildered when it's so intense. I am hoping to get more insight into where this comes from.

Amy answers:

Immediately I'm drawn to the sun and moon in the twelfth house and the twelfth sign (Pisces) as the primary astrological "source" of sensitivity in Elizabeth's chart. The word sensitivity often has negative connotations in our society and it's important to take a moment to redefine it. While heightened sensitivity presents some challenges such as more frequent ups and downs, it also allows for greater empathy, compassion, and emotional self-exploration. The archetype of Pisces is about absorption, being metaphorically porous in order to experience things on a level that is beyond just the self. She feels on a grand scale and is sensitive not only to her own emotional state but the state of others around her. Learning to manage her emotions without invalidating them or suppressing them outright will be an important life skill. Sometimes something as simple as solitude can help her momentarily remove herself from external stimulus so she can deal with what's going on inside more efficiently.

Elizabeth has virtually no earth element in her chart, so she's not going to be swayed by arguments that are solely based on practicality. Emotions and emotional responses cannot be measured on a scale of convenience, so whenever you can, walking through the emotion and helping her find her way to the other side (as opposed to just fanning the "flames," so to speak) is the challenge. With a strong water and fire elemental orientation, she is going to respond to life by how she feels, which are more likely to dictate her decisions and actions more than what's sensible purely for dispassionate reasons. However, she has a wealth of Aquarius, the element of air, so cultivating objectivity and learning to detach from the emotional impact of some situations will help her, over her lifetime, will help her deal with emotional overwhelm better as she grows older.

The south node's placement in Sagittarius can emphasize an orientation toward big and immediate responses to life, and in the watery 8th house, these reactions come from deep and intense impulses. Moving toward a Gemini north node indicates that it's an important life lesson for her to learn how to mitigate the intensity of the south node (as we all are learning to do), by thinking before acting, not just using proper judgment and restraint, but specifically by learning to evaluate situations from a more balanced perspective - objectively as well as subjectively.

In childhood, we typically see the undiluted strength of the orientation of the south node, because for all of us, even adults, it is a comfort zone. It's not bad but it can be too excess, causing us difficulty in making sense of the world from only one perspective. The north node work is a lifelong process that we reach for to bring more balance to our lives overall and over time. So don't expect this to change overnight! She'll be using this lifetime to learn different skills and a different perspective, without invalidating or shaming her natural inclinations.

Hope that provided some insight. Thanks for your question!

And Baby Makes Three For the Afflecks

Capricorn Seraphina and Sagittarius Violet Affleck now have something new in common: they are both big sisters! Samuel Garner was born at an undisclosed time on February 27th, according to Ben's announcement on his Facebook page. A noon chart has been cast.

Even without knowledge of the time, it's certain that Samuel's chart boasts a Taurus Moon, as it was in Taurus all day long. The Moon sign is typically the most important sign to consider when considering a baby's chart, as they communicate on simple, emotional, and instinctual terms when they are so young. A baby's Moon sign also reveals what they need to feel safe and nurtured. While everyone baby needs routine, a Taurus Moon thrives on it. Samuel will appreciate a regular, but not necessarily rigid schedule.

Taurus Moon babies tend to be rather sweet and laid back, happy as a clam as long as they're well fed and rested, which tends to be easy to do as they're not typically fussy or picky. This should be a great fit for the third baby of a busy family! He'll be happy to be along for the ride, just hanging out.

Taurus can be quite a gentle sign, and with a sweet-hearted Pisces Sun in addition, he'll be fawned over, that's for sure!

Pisces Signature Star Child: Nahla Aubry!

Nahla Ariela, daughter of Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry, is our featured Pisces "Star Child." The Kiddiegram reports are the heart and soul of Kiddiegram, because they were created out of a desire to help you understand and nurture your precious one. A Kiddiegram is truly a "user's manual for parents.

With four planets in gentle Pisces and Mars and Moon in tender-hearted Cancer, Nahla is probably one of the sweetest children anyone who knows her comes in contact with. She is very aware of the feelings of others, and can feel just as bad as another does if she accidentally hurts someone's feelings. She is a nurturer at heart and probably has a load of baby dolls to prove it, as many children with Cancer energy enjoy playing a nurturing role like mom, or even a nurse or doctor. She is also likely to be very protective of those she loves, just like a mama bear.

It's common for children with predominant water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, and/or Pisces) to feel and act shy, but Nahla's south node is in demonstrative Leo, in the expressive third house. She may like more attention than expected, although she may have a love/hate relationship with it. Her communicative and curious Gemini Rising is also an open kind of energy like Leo, wanting to reach out to the world around her. With four planets in the 10th house of career and vocation, she is likely to develop a growing desire to find a meaningful place in the world. Since Neptune and Pisces have an affinity for each other, as she finds that place in the world, she'll be opening up to her life lesson, with Neptune close to her north node. More on Neptune from her Kiddiegram:

Neptune in Aquarius
Nahla harbors great hopes for world unity and universal brother- and sisterhood. She is marked by an inner impulse toward collective awakening and a strongly futuristic, visionary, evolutionary "dream"...
Neptune in the Ninth House
Nahla is very much likely to be a spiritual seeker all her life and she may travel widely as part of her quest for the grail of wisdom. She will enjoy studying and dreaming about faraway places, the more exotic and unreachable the better.
Even as a child, she instinctively understands the interconnectedness of all life and has very high ideals.

Suri Surely an Actress?

This summer, Katie Holmes told InStyle magazine that she thinks Suri will be an actress!

"She's an amazing athlete, singer and dancer, and I think she'll probably be an actress."

Of course, mom couldn't be biased about her daughter's talents, surely! But while many celebrity moms worry about their kids in the business, I guess the business has been good enough to Katie that she wouldn't mind it for her daughter. She's certainly got acting in her blood, but will she really be an actress?

Actors and actresses come with charts of all kinds, but it's not surprising or uncommon to find a Piscean and/or Neptunean influence. This planet and sign create fluidity in a personality, making it easier to become a chameleon. Like water filling a glass, a bucket, or a bowl, it takes on the shape of its container, just like an actor might with a role.

Suri has Neptune very close to her Ascendant. Any planet close to the Ascendant often colors the overall personality, style, and appearance of that person. Someone with Mars close to the Ascendant might be very driven or aggressive, for instance, while someone with Uranus close to the Ascendant will certainly stand out in a crowd, dressing and acting in a way that sets them apart from the norm. So Neptune, the planet of the shifter, the chameleon, often makes the person seem like a bit of an enigma. She may reflect the moods and expectations of those looking at her (can you say Quantum Astrology?!), which can be great for an actress, although challenging sometimes in real life.

Suri would probably be able to take on the different identities of her roles rather easily. And she certainly already has the wardrobe changes down pat!

Sheryl Crow on Teaching Her Kids to Give Back

In an interview with Ladies' Home Journal Magazine, Sheryl Crow talks about the 7 rules she tries to follow for a happy life--many of them in relation to being a mom, of course. Rule 7 is "Teach Your Kids To Give Back."
"Moms come in for boxes of food just to keep their families going -- they inspire me with their determination" ... "I want to help my kids learn about volunteerism. When we pass people in need on the street, I always let Wyatt give them money. It's important for him to understand -- even though he's just 4 -- that we are so blessed."
It's a lesson that's sure to stick with both kids, especially Wyatt. With Mars and his North Node in the altruistic sign of Pisces, he'll be naturally motivated (Mars) by empathy, so the more Sheryl can help Wyatt connect with others that he wants to give to, the more emotional the experience of empathizing with others will be.

But with Uranus right next to Mars, also in Pisces, it'll be important that he finds his individual style when it comes to giving and especially in ways that are not fueled by guilt. With his South Node in Virgo, he has an urge toward service but Virgo is very prone toward letting the urge for service become something that's a burden, not a joy. Compassion and forgiveness, especially of the self, is an important Piscean lesson. If Sheryl can help Wyatt tune into the good feelings that both the giver and receiver get from helping, he'll be hooked!

*No birth time is known for Wyatt; noon chart shown.

Grandma Martha Stewart!

Martha Stewart is officially a grandma since her daughter, Alexis, welcomed a baby girl via surrogate. Pisces baby Jude came into the world early on March 8th, 2011.

It's unclear where baby Jude was born, so Mlle. Kiddie has defaulted to New York City, where mom Alexis lives. She's got a wealth of Pisces planets including the Sun, Mars, Mercury, and Uranus. If she was actually born in New York City, all these planets, as well as Neptune, will be in her 3rd house, which represents the things in our lives that we do to learn and communicate. Her mind will work in Piscean ways, which means this girl will have an incredible imagination.

Not only that, but Mercury, the planet of the mind and learning, is in Pisces and right next to Uranus, which is a planet of innovation. Her mind won't work like a lot of people expect, in linear, A-B-C fashion, but in an open, lightning-quick sort of way. She'll be teaching her mom a thing or two from an early age!

Jude also has an Aries Moon, so she'll be quick to act and react to life around her. Here's more about baby Jude's Aries Moon from her Kiddiegram:
High spirited and lively, this child needs action and she loves to be moving. She is attracted to anything with speed and energy, and to anything that involves challenge or competition (like running a race). She does things quickly, sometimes carelessly, and she hates to wait for anything. She can be very temperamental and impatient if the pace is too slow, and she gets frustrated with herself when she cannot master a task right away. She wants very much to be independent. She also wants very much to win, to be the first, to be the best.

Congrats to Martha and Alexis on their new addition!

Happy Birthday Pisces Kids

The Sun is in Pisces from February 18th to March 20th this year. Happy birthday to all those Pisces kiddos (and mommies and daddies)!

Pisceans arguably trump any other sign for imagination. They often retreat into their imagination to create the magical world they are sometimes more at home with than the mundane one. Piscean children can get caught up in daydreams quite often and parents can sometimes find it a challenge to keep their attention in the here and now! They can be quite intelligent, but sometimes seem absent-minded because of the call of the inner world.

Piscean children are also very tender and empathetic. They can sometimes be shy, but if someone is hurt or showing sadness, they are the first to put their arms around them and try to help. They can be so tender-hearted that their feelings are easily engaged and hurt as well.

Frances ("Frankie") Pen has three planets, including the Sun, in Pisces. She also has her north node in this sign, which means she is learning to balance her south node in Virgo. This involves learning to be compassionate and forgiving of others as well as herself and not to sweat the small stuff. Here's more from Frankie's Kiddiegram:

Gentle, receptive, and impressionable, Frances feels everything very acutely and is powerfully affected by her surroundings. She absorbs the emotions of the people she is with, and can be adversely affected if there is much negativity or disharmony around her. It is as if she has no defensive armor to shield herself from outside influences, and you will find her withdrawing into herself when she begins to feel overwhelmed. She is very soft-hearted, sensitive to criticism or harshness in any form, and easily hurt by unkindness. She seems to feel just as badly when other people are being cruel to one another, as when someone is unkind to her directly.

Frances turns 4 today along with many of her Hollywood peers. Happy birthday!

Marcia Cross' Yin/Yang Twins

Marcia Cross' fraternal twins are now three years old, old enough to see their personalities develop and display themselves. Marcia says they're surprisingly different, saying in a recent interview with People:
"...they remind me of a yin and a yang, with how opposite they are … and they fit together so well. They complement each other, but yet they’re so different."

Because the most apparent observation about twins is how alike they are, many people seem to go out of their way to observe just how different they are. You'd never make the assumption that two siblings who were not twins would behave identically, yet with twins there is an awareness of how similar they might be, and as a balance, many people look for clues on how different they actually are. In a recent post, we looked at twins Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen as an example of the differences among the physical similarities in this most famous set of twins. They had a strong Uranus signature, which is a planet of individuality. These twins want to be anything but solely a mirror image of each other.

So on to Eden's and Savannah's chart. If you accept the premise that souls 'choose' their families before birth, one could speculate that there are still many reasons why souls would choose to come in as twins. With so much Pisces in these girls' chart, one might speculate that the intent could be to blur the boundaries between the self and others, to open the souls up. Pisces is a sign that is about the spiritual side of life--not religious, but focuses on matters of the spirit: empathy, compassion, magic, and inspiration. Pisces is about learning the connectedness between people as part of the human family, not the separation, hence the qualities of empathy and compassion being so prevalent among Pisceans. These twins have half the planets in their chart in Pisces.

Eden & Savannah Mahoney's birth chart, no housesBut not so fast! Like the Olsen twins, Eden and Savannah have a strong Uranus signature in their chart. Uranus is conjunct their north node, in Pisces.

Their south node is in the opposite sign, Virgo. The south node reveals what assumptions, beliefs, and habits the soul is leaving behind, or putting into balance, by moving toward the north node traits. With a Virgo south node, the twins will be working toward having more compassion, forgiveness, and love for others, but especially for themselves, since Virgo has a tendency to be self-critical and a perfectionist. Add Uranus in as a primary lesson (conjunct the north node), they are going to be learning how to worry less about doing everything right and being perfect in the eyes of the standards of other people or society in general (Virgo) and more about being a perfect version of themselves.

Mom Marcia is recognizing their individuality early on, like all twins' have, but her ability to embrace and encourage their individuality will be perfect for them, and Marcia's chart shows some specific connections to Eden and Savannah's chart. Marcia's Jupiter lands right on the twins' Sun in Pisces, so she encourages  (Jupiter) them to build their own identity (Sun). Marcia's Mars also lands right on their Uranus in Pisces, so she will almost push them (Mars) into breaking away from the expectations of others (Uranus) and reinforce the need to be themselves. Sounds pretty "perfect"!
