Happy 4th Birthday Shiloh Jolie-Pitt!

Shiloh Jolie-Pitt turned 4 years old on Thursday in style with a pirate party including hats, swords, and parrots! It's unclear whether Captain Jack Sparrow made an appearance, since his alter ego, Johnny Depp, has been filming his latest movie with mom Angelina Jolie.

Shiloh, like near astrological twin Kingston Rossdale, is a new moon baby, with the Sun and Moon close to each other in Gemini. The fact that Shiloh was born during a new moon adds an additional layer of understanding to her birth chart. Those born under a new moon are said to have a 'newness' about them, as if they are seeing things for the first time, exploring the world in a spontaneous way without much forethought, but with pure instinct. It is said that new moon people simply have more luck when they follow their intuition instead of trying to navigate life purely by control or plan (with a grain of salt, since we have to take into account everything the chart is saying as a whole).

This idea reinforces some things that can already be seen in Shiloh's chart. As a double Gemini, the attitude of spontaneous exploration is going to be at the core of her identity and what feels most natural to her. She's also got an Aries north node, which means she's entered this life with the intention to leave behind Libran (the opposite sign, in which her south node lies) qualities of excess indecision or a tendency to second guess oneself. Libra energy can have one looking outside of themselves for validation, which is fine if balanced in moderate amounts, but in Shiloh's case, she's learning to live life more as it comes and trust that what she does 'from the hip', so to speak, is going to bring more good things her way than most attempts to get everyone's input before she does what she wanted to do in the first place.

Shiloh's mom will be a pretty good example for Shiloh in that department, with her Moon and Mars in the sign of Aries herself. Angelina knows what she wants and she moves toward it with confidence, something that Shiloh is learning herself.

For more about Shiloh, check out her Kiddiegram, and while you're at it, grab one for your little (or not so little) one!

Sweet and the City: Sarah Jessica Parker and Family

In a Parade Magazine interview, Sarah Jessica Parker reveals that while she is eternally enamored with New York and is married to the love of her life, that's the closest she typically gets to the similarities with her character, Carrie Bradshaw.
"I love just being with my family -- going to the grocery store, cooking dinner, putting my twins to bed, changing their diapers, getting my older son ready for school and packing his lunch. Staying home with my family and my husband is the thing I love most in the world. Is it sexy? I don't know about that, but it sure is fun and it's definitely unpredictable."
There's some great family dynamics between the charts of each of the Broderick-Parker clan (there are only four charts since the twins' charts are essentially the same). For one thing, the romance between mom and dad is pretty nice. Sarah's Venus  (style of relating & romantic connection) is in the same spot as Matthew's Sun (core identity), and it's practically reciprocal since they both have Venus and the Sun in Aries. It's important to be attracted to your partner, and these two surely are, but there's also a sense of likability between the two.

When our partner's chart connects to our Venus as they both do to each other, we are simply charmed by them. We like them, and we are prone to liking them even when they annoy us, so we may not be able to stay mad (or stay away) for long. When our partner touches our Sun in a harmonious way, again as they both do for each other, there is a feeling that we can be our true selves around them, like something about them helps us to be centered in ourselves. Their Mars are opposed each other, his in Pisces, hers in Virgo, which can seem like a negative things, and while it can have them butting heads sometimes, it also keeps the heat alive between them. It's good to have a little edge between partners, otherwise they might bore each other to death, but not so much that they can't get along, so they share a great mix.

The powerful Venus connection runs in the family! Sarah, Matthew, and James all have Venus right next to, if not right on top of, their Sun, and the twins have Venus closely related to another powerful planet, their Mars. The twins were born on a new moon, which means both their Sun and Moon are fused tightly together in the sign of Cancer, and Matthew's protective Mars in Pisces makes a lovely trine to their Sun/Moon. He's likely to have the right kind of gentle attitude toward the twins and helps them feel sheltered. James' Leo Moon is in another lovely trine with both mom and dad's Suns & Venuses, and Sarah's Jupiter touches the twins' Mars and Venus, lending them encouragement and open-heartedness.

Given so many Venus connections in this family, I'd say there's a lot of joy in this family and a real ability to get along easily with one another. No wonder Sarah just wants to stay at home with her family all the time!

Marcia Cross' Yin/Yang Twins

Marcia Cross' fraternal twins are now three years old, old enough to see their personalities develop and display themselves. Marcia says they're surprisingly different, saying in a recent interview with People:
"...they remind me of a yin and a yang, with how opposite they are … and they fit together so well. They complement each other, but yet they’re so different."

Because the most apparent observation about twins is how alike they are, many people seem to go out of their way to observe just how different they are. You'd never make the assumption that two siblings who were not twins would behave identically, yet with twins there is an awareness of how similar they might be, and as a balance, many people look for clues on how different they actually are. In a recent post, we looked at twins Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen as an example of the differences among the physical similarities in this most famous set of twins. They had a strong Uranus signature, which is a planet of individuality. These twins want to be anything but solely a mirror image of each other.

So on to Eden's and Savannah's chart. If you accept the premise that souls 'choose' their families before birth, one could speculate that there are still many reasons why souls would choose to come in as twins. With so much Pisces in these girls' chart, one might speculate that the intent could be to blur the boundaries between the self and others, to open the souls up. Pisces is a sign that is about the spiritual side of life--not religious, but focuses on matters of the spirit: empathy, compassion, magic, and inspiration. Pisces is about learning the connectedness between people as part of the human family, not the separation, hence the qualities of empathy and compassion being so prevalent among Pisceans. These twins have half the planets in their chart in Pisces.

Eden & Savannah Mahoney's birth chart, no housesBut not so fast! Like the Olsen twins, Eden and Savannah have a strong Uranus signature in their chart. Uranus is conjunct their north node, in Pisces.

Their south node is in the opposite sign, Virgo. The south node reveals what assumptions, beliefs, and habits the soul is leaving behind, or putting into balance, by moving toward the north node traits. With a Virgo south node, the twins will be working toward having more compassion, forgiveness, and love for others, but especially for themselves, since Virgo has a tendency to be self-critical and a perfectionist. Add Uranus in as a primary lesson (conjunct the north node), they are going to be learning how to worry less about doing everything right and being perfect in the eyes of the standards of other people or society in general (Virgo) and more about being a perfect version of themselves.

Mom Marcia is recognizing their individuality early on, like all twins' have, but her ability to embrace and encourage their individuality will be perfect for them, and Marcia's chart shows some specific connections to Eden and Savannah's chart. Marcia's Jupiter lands right on the twins' Sun in Pisces, so she encourages  (Jupiter) them to build their own identity (Sun). Marcia's Mars also lands right on their Uranus in Pisces, so she will almost push them (Mars) into breaking away from the expectations of others (Uranus) and reinforce the need to be themselves. Sounds pretty "perfect"!

Amy Adams Welcomes New Little One (Finally!): Aviana Olea

Actress Amy Adams welcomed her new daughter, Aviana Olea, on Saturday, May 15th in Los Angeles. A birth time has not been disclosed, so her Ascendant and house placements cannot be determined yet.

Aviana is a Taurus Sun and a Gemini Moon. The sign of Taurus brings traits of common sense, practicality, and a love of simple pleasures, whereas Gemini provides a sense of playfulness, flexibility, and a love of the complex--which it sees as puzzles to work out to entertain itself and it's famous curiosity. What a perfect mix of earth (Taurus) and air (Gemini)! Aviana's got roots and wings built into her personality, and not just in Taurus and Gemini.

Aviana was born during the Saturn/Uranus+Jupiter opposition that we have all been experiencing over the last couple of months. When planets are opposed, they have to duke it out for dominance, which hopefully, eventually leads to balance inside oneself. As Aviana gets older, probably into her teens at least, Amy and future husband Darren will probably see her jumping between two extremes: the part of her that wants to be dutiful and careful (Saturn--which her Taurus Sun also appreciates) and the part of her that wants to break away and be free to just be herself without conforming or following any rules (Uranus & Jupiter--which her Gemini Moon will also like!)

Because her north node, which represents a soul's overall purpose, is in Capricorn, she's trying to develop the Capricornian traits of autonomy, self-reliance, and self-control, this wrestle between being dutiful and being independent is going to be an important one, to help her realize where the balance point is between the two. Aviana is learning that sometimes you want to follow the rules so that you can get the results you want, and sometimes you need to break the rules to make progress!

Apple Martin is Six Years Old!

Apple Martin, daughter of Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow, is six years old today. According to mom Gwyneth, birthday plans include a petting zoo that's gotten just a little out of hand!
“I just thought we’d get a couple of bunnies and a cat. It’s crazy! It’s literally like one pony to ride — I don’t know where we’re riding this pony, by the way — one pony to pet, some goats, a bearded dragon, a tarantula, two manx rats and a descented skunk. So that’s what’s coming.”

Apple is a Taurus Sun, a sign that typically has a love of animals because of it's 'creature' qualities. Taurus is a sign that has a love of anything natural, which often translates into a love of nature and animals. She's also got a Pisces Moon an influence that gives her a tender heart. With her Sun in the 4th house of home and family, a party at home is just the thing.

Apple also has Mars and Saturn in Cancer in the 6th house. Cancer is a sign that is oriented toward nurturing and caring for those who need it. The 6th house and Saturn make her likely to feel not just a kindness, but a duty toward others who need her help and care. Mlle. Kiddie wonders if she may grow up to be a veterinarian!

Big Sister Frances Pen

Amanda Peet, who recently gave birth to Molly June, says big sister Frances "Frankie" Pen is still adjusting as a big sister:
"It's been good; she's a little more moody than usual but it's not directed at the baby. It's more like, 'Frankie eat your broccoli,' and she starts screaming. She wants to have a baby in her belly and she wants to breastfeed."
While Frankie is a Pisces, her moon is in the sign of Aries, along with her Mars in Capricorn, two energies that indicate a desire to take charge and do things her way. With a moon in Aries, Frankie might be feeling a little competitive and left out, so there's a chance that she might want to be the one having the baby in her belly and breastfeeding to regain a sense of feeling important.

Being a Pisces, with a Virgo south node, Frankie has a strong desire to help, and with Mars in Capricorn, she knows exactly how she wants to do it! Capricorn is a sign of management in all senses of the word, not just a job title. Capricorn is about making plans and following through on those plans to reach your goals, something at which Frankie will typically be pretty good. Although, it might help for her to get a little older before she starts making plans on handling her new baby sister, since putting a newborn baby in a 3 year old's tummy probably isn't the most practical idea!

Mother Moon: Spotlight on Celeb Moms and their Mothering Style

In every chart, each planet has its purpose, from Mercury's job to communicate to Venus' job to make friends. In astrology, it's the moon's job to nurture. In our own charts, our moon sign and house can tell us what we need to nurture and comfort ourselves, what makes us feel happy and safe. But it can also tell us how we instinctively take care of and protect the ones we love. Everyone has a moon, so everyone has that inner 'mother'. In celebration of Mother's Day, Mlle. Kiddie takes a look at a few celeb moms and their mothering style.

Sandra Bullock
Sandra has an Aquarius moon in the 9th house. The 9th house represents how we form our philosophies about life, the ideas that make up what we think life's purpose is. With an Aquarius moon, the philosophy of being true to yourself is going to be high on her list of important things to pass on to her new son, Louis. She will most try to comfort and nurture him by helping him see that who he is matters more than trying just to fit in with others. Aquarius can be a sign that tends to be a little more emotionally detached--not unfeeling or cold, but allowing the space for others to express themselves in whatever way feels appropriate. Sandra will want to give Louis the freedom to be himself, without grooming him too much to conform. With Venus and Mars in a trine to her moon, she will also want to impart to Louis how to defend his right to be himself (Mars) without being needlessly cruel or defiant--doing it with some finesse and charm (Venus). (Photo: People)

Katie Holmes
Katie Holmes has a Leo Moon in the 12th house. She will want to teach Suri to enjoy life by allowing her to play and express herself any way she chooses--the more imaginative, the better. With a trine to gentle Neptune, Katie is more likely to lean on the side of permissiveness and indulgence; she wants to take life moment to moment instead of setting up a rigid structure of rules, simply wanting Suri to be happy. However, with her moon square Uranus and Venus in Scorpio, she will not let Suri walk all over her or abuse her. She is likely to encourage a spiritual connection between herself and Suri and her love for Suri will be a divine and transcendent love. (Photo: Vanity Fair)

Madonna
Madonna has her moon in the sign of Virgo, so she is going to instinctively nurture her kids by making sure they do the right things for their body and mind. She's likely to be quite the stickler for rules and routine since she will approach mothering from the practical perspective: teaching her kids how to grow up in control of themselves and with the right tools to take care of themselves as they grow into adulthood. She is a no-nonsense mom and will not permit any whining! She will need to take care to avoid coming across as too critical and encouraging her children to feel like they never measure up. (Photo: Shavawn Rissman/AP)

Nicole Richie
Nicole Richie has a Cancer moon, so she's likely to be quite a doting and nurturing mom. Cancer is a sign that is meant to mother, whether it's a plant, a garden, or another soul. It's easy to see what a dedicated and down-to-earth person Nicole developed into once she had another person who needed her beyond her own self. She will want to nurture and show her love for Harlow and Sparrow in a very hands-on, emotional way, and is likely to enjoy the homemaking aspect of motherhood. She will need to watch out for being overprotective. (Photo: GSI Media)

Angelina Jolie
Angie's moon is clustered together with Mars and Jupiter all in the sign of Aries. She's going to nurture her kids by doing what she can to encourage their own strength, courage, and confidence. She wants her kids to know that there is nothing that can hold them back if they'll only be brave and give it a try. She's not one to coddle or overprotect them and she will encourage them to try new things. She believes not in protecting them from the dangers of life, but encouraging them to experience life, to engage with it. She may tend to be quick-tempered or impatient with her children, especially if she feels they are whining or clingy, but these moods will quickly pass.

Happy 4th Birthday Sadie Sandler!

Sadie Sandler will be 4 years old on Thursday, which gives her a Taurus Sun, a perfect fit with Adam Sandler's Virgo Sun. Taurus and Virgo are both signs of the element of earth, an element that is happiest keeping things down-to-earth, real, and practical. Even though sometimes Virgo can get high-strung when really worried about something, they both like to keep things low-key, without too much drama. Mlle. Kiddie does not know Sadie's birth time, so it's challenging to know whether her moon was in Leo or Virgo, but the odds are in favor of a Virgo moon.

Sadie has visited on the set of Adam's latest movie with Jennifer Aniston and says that Sadie likes Aniston about 50% of the time. “I call her ‘Fifty Fifty Sadie,'" he says. With that much earth energy, including her Taurus Sun, she may just take a while to warm up to new people.
From Sadie's Kiddiegram:
Sadie much prefers the known and the familiar to the new and different. Her tastes are likely to be very consistent and fixed, and it will not be easy for you to introduce new food, especially if it is exotic or distinctive in any way. She can be very inflexible and resistant to new ideas and to changes in the status quo, also. A reliable routine suits her very well.
Mlle. Kiddie does not know what is planned for Sadie's birthday celebration, but in light of Sadie's low-key style, she would recommend a good, old-fashioned park or backyard party, complete with barbeque, ice cream, games, the works!
Wishing Sadie a happy 4th!

Jenna writes:
My 8-year-old son is a very unique child. I say this with some experience as he is the 5th of five others. He has poor social skills and is a late reader. He does seem to struggle in school, yet his imagination is vivid. He often states, "I'm going to make an amazing invention when I grow up." Any insights you can provide will be much appreciated.

With questions regarding learning and communication, we typically begin with Mercury, the planet of the mind, learning, and communication and in this case, Mercury is conjunct his Sun in Sagittarius. Sagittarius is the sign of the philosopher and part of that is because Sagittarius takes what it knows and has experienced and puts it together. It's opposite sign, Gemini, disseminates information, takes it apart and looks at all the pieces, but Sagittarius is about pattern recognition and seeing things holistically. It connects the dots, not typically in an A to B to C fashion, but in bigger and simultaneous leaps.

It's doubtful that there's going to be any issue with his intelligence. The struggle he may have is going to be more along the lines of getting everything he's absorbing in some kind of order. In grade school, we're learning the ABCs--literally of course, but also in terms of method. We crawl before we walk. We learn the alphabet before we read. We need to understand each dot before we connect them, but it's quite possible that he's almost too impatient to do that easily. So some of the challenge may be getting him to slow down, not just in attitude about learning, but in the way his mind works and processes information. He may just need some specific tools in order to help him do that, whether it's an issue of extra tutoring or learning exercises and tools that fit certain learning disabilities. It's important that I be clear: he may not necessarily have a learning disability - that's not what I specifically see in the chart; you'll want to have him evaluated if you think he has enough struggle to determine that. All I am doing is taking your cues in already knowing there may be an issue and looking at the way he learns and what that issue might be.

He also has Saturn in Gemini. While there are many positive aspects of Saturn, it can often represent some aspect of our lives that is difficult. It is through continued effort, discipline, and practice that we are able to acquire the skills we need to succeed wherever Saturn lies. Saturn is Time itself--nothing happens quickly where Saturn is concerned. I mentioned a little of what Gemini represents above - learning to take ideas apart and see the facts, the building blocks, the components of how something works. Saturn in Gemini and also retrograde, simply means that it will take more effort for him than for some to master Gemini: learning, communication, and the ability to manipulate information and data. This is fully within his ability but it will not come quickly, another reason why giving him tools to help the process as I mentioned in the above paragraph will help him get a leg up. Saturn likes tools!

I think he's right about making that amazing invention. Mars is in an exceptionally tight conjunction with Uranus, so his motivation, passion, and will (Mars) is irrevocably tied to his desire to pursue his individuality and investigate the unusual (Uranus). Uranus is the planet of invention because it is everything opposite of convention so it thinks outside of the norm.

Thanks for your question!
