Virgo Signature Star Child: Rockwell Lloyd Liu

Actress Lucy Liu has accepted a brave new role: as new mom! She shared a photo of her and her new son, Rockwell Lloyd, on social media. Rockwell was born August 27th via gestational carrier.

Rockwell has Jupiter, the 'lucky' planet, boosting his Virgo Sun. This doesn't mean he'll always be lucky but he'll always be able to access something essential: a sense of hope and possibility. He'll usually be able to see the bright side of things and pick himself up quickly after a fall, with a tendency to see the proverbial glass as half-full.

However, with his Sun and Jupiter in down-to-earth Virgo and realistic Saturn in close connection with this planetary duo, Rockwell will be able to temper his enthusiasm and optimism with a practical point of view. Saturn and the Virgoan influence will temper the Jupiterian tendency to leap before looking, and Jupiter will be able to override Saturn's sometimes pessimistic outlook. 

Because Rockwell's Sun-Jupiter is in a tense angle (a square) with Saturn, he may not find this internal tempering process comfortable. He may wrestle between wanting to be free to try new things and insecurity about the possibility of doing something wrong. The Virgoan desire for perfection can prompt Virgos to try too hard to avoid failure. Neptune, the planet of idealism and imagination, lies opposite his Sun and Jupiter, so his imagination may be able to show him what he wants, but the practice and effort required to achieve his ideal may sometimes be discouraging. Mom can help him by gently encouraging him to keep trying if he really wants something, but not punish himself for not being perfect at everything on the first try!

September CeleBaby Round Up Featuring Virgo Dominic Lopez

Mario Lopez and his wife Courtney had their second child, Dominic, on September 9th. This Virgo little brother joins Virgo big sister, 3-year-old Gia!

Given the frequency with which the happy dad tweets, Mlle. Kiddie was able to piece together a likely birth time, somewhere between 11:00 and 11:30 pm, giving Dominic Gemini Rising. Mercury, the planet of communication and learning, rules both Virgo and Gemini, and with a penetrating Scorpio Moon in the mix, Dominic's curiosity will no know bounds! For now, though, his Taurus, 12th house south node will have him happy as a clam if he can have some peace and quiet. He'll likely be a mellow baby as long as he gets that!

• "She's All That" actress Rachael Leigh Cook and her "Vampire Diaries" husband Daniel Gillies welcomed their first baby, a Libra girl, in the last weekend of September. Virgo Signature Star Child: Sparrow James Midnight Madden

Sparrow James Midnight, son of Nicole Richie and James Madden, is our Virgo Signature Star child!

A Virgo Sun and Taurus Moon, Sparrow is probably a pretty down-to-earth kid. With Saturn not far away from his Sun, also in Virgo, he'll probably have quite a serious side, always concerned with doing his best and doing what's right. He'll love to be helpful and may even get upset when he's not able to help or if he thinks he's done something incorrectly, as Virgo children can get sometimes get caught up in the right way to do things. His laid-back Taurus Moon and loving parents will help him learn to keep some perspective.

Boy, oh boy!

Reese Witherspoon welcomed a baby boy on the morning of September 27th, with husband Jim Toth. Her third child and second son is named Tennessee James, and joins almost-9-year-old older brother Deacon Reese and 13-year-old older sister Ava Elizabeth. Ava and Tennessee share a September birthday, but unlike Virgo Ava, Tennessee is a Libra. Deacon's birth time is not publicly known, and since he was born on the cusp of Virgo and Libra (the day when the Sun moves from Virgo to Libra), Mlle. Kiddie isn't sure whether he is a Virgo or Libra. But either way, he's covered! He shares a sun sign with at one of his siblings!

Tennessee has a calm and steady Taurus south node, so he's likely to enter the world with an easy-going disposition for the most part. Pink's In the Pink as Willow's Mommy

Singer Pink, mom to 1-year-old daughter Willow, extolled the joys of motherhood in a recent interview:

“I do a lot of dancing now with [Willow] and I’m just happier ... Your career goes up and down, but … at the end of the day, if I didn’t do another thing, I’m blessed. I like myself more than I used to.”

That can be challenging with so much Virgo, as she may have a hard time when she fails at something she's trying hard to master. She'll have high expectations of herself, so mom and dad will have to carefully help her muster the courage to try again.

Happy Birthday Virgo Kids!

The Sun is in Virgo from August 23rd to September 23 this year, which means Mlle. Kiddie is much overdue to wish these youngsters a happy birthday!

Virgo children are keen observers and love to learn. They, like Gemini, are ruled by the planet Mercury, the planet of the mind, but where Gemini goes in many directions, Virgos like to focus and analyze what they see. They catch a lot of details that others miss, and are fascinated with the inner workings and structure of whatever they are examining.

A Virgo child really loves to be helpful. Virgo is the sign of service, so it takes pride in feeling like it has something of worth to offer. It's one of the reasons a Virgo child can get so upset when they feel like they are doing something wrong or failing the objective, whether it's a task or a game. Sometimes they may avoid trying something new out of fear of failing or because they don't like the awkwardness of the learning curve. They are very sensitive to criticism, because they can be so hard on themselves in this regard. They will enjoy clear instructions and rules so they know what expectations they can meet, but they often expect more of themselves than even you do!

Last year we visited the chart of then 2-1/2 year old Valentina Pinault, daughter of beauty Salma Hayek, and found out she wasn't buying the tall tale of Santa Claus. Virgo children can be pretty shrewd! It's hard to pull the wool over their eyes, although if you can spin a tale that seems to make logical sense, they just might go for it. Mlle. Alyssa’s Serious Little Dude

Alyssa Milano welcomed her first child with husband, David Bugliari, on the morning of August 31st:

Milo was born while Saturn was in the Moon’s neighborhood; as you can see, they are both very close to Milo’s Libra Ascendant (Saturn right smack on!) The Ascendant is one’s overall approach to life, and how they seem to be to others. With Saturn here, Milo will develop a more serious demeanor. Although his Libra Rising makes him well-versed at knowing the ins and outs of getting along in the social world, he may not be easy to get to know, as his moon, the shy, inner child in us all, is guarded by Saturn and hanging back a bit in the hidden 12th house, with Saturn being more prominent on the ‘stage’ of Milo’s life.

Libra can emphasize a desire to connect with others, but Saturn on the Ascendant suggests a certain amount of self-sufficiency, and his grand trine in earth signs (Sun & Venus in Virgo, trine Jupiter in Taurus, trine Pluto in Capricorn) further suggests self-sufficiency. With Venus and the Sun so close together, it emphasizes the Libra desire to connect with others again, as well as an underlying charm which can soften the sometimes stern or intimidating side of Saturn on the Ascendant. Virgo Charlotte Grace Loves Books

At 19 months, Virgo Charlotte Grace (Freddie Prinze Jr. & Sarah Michelle Gellar) is already an avid lover of books, no doubt thanks to the entire family as mom, dad, and grandma read to her several times a day.

Charlotte has Mercury, the planet of the mind and learning, in Virgo, very close to the Sun (also in Virgo). Mercury is never terribly far away from the Sun, but when it's in a close conjunction, it indicates someone who identifies (Sun) with the planet Mercury and all that it represents. This can show up in various ways, depending on the sign, as someone who is highly verbal, intellectual, creative, analytical -- the list goes on and on. In Virgo, the mental capacity for taking in information and analyzing it will be strong in Charlotte.


Her Mercury is also retrograde, which means she was born when Mercury, because of its position in the sky in relation to Earth, appeared to be moving backward through the zodiac, instead of forward. When planets are retrograde, they tend to draw the energy inward, rather than outward. With this 'yin' Mercury, it's likely that Charlotte will be more soft-spoken, thoughtful, and developing more of an internal awareness of things and imagination. She is no doubt already highly observant, noting and remembering everything around her. With serious Saturn also close to this combination, her reading skills and interest may very well transfer to strong study skills and high intelligence.

Songbird Sunday Sings

There's no doubt that Sunday is mom's doppelganger but apparently it's dad's footsteps she'll be walking in, or at least trying his shoes on for size.

2-year-old Sunday ended up recording the ABC song and Twinkle Twinkle at her dad's studio recently, complete with headphones and microphone!

But is a music career in her future? With a Leo south node, Sunday has definitely come into this world with a desire to shine, which she'll do whether it's in music, art, acting, or something else altogether! Her Venus is also in soulful Cancer, so the ways she will express her creativity will always be from the heart. Venus is also in a comfortable relationship with Uranus, which is a planet of individuality, so she won't be afraid to stand out with what she does.

Whatever she does, she'll want to do with precision and skill. With three significant planets in Virgo, she'll always be striving to do her best and beyond. The good news is, it will drive her onward to accomplish whatever she sets her mind to in dedication. The bad news: out of a desire to do her best, she may never be satisfied with her efforts! Hopefully mom and dad can teach her how to let her spontaneity of Jupiter in her 5th house (play, creativity, being in the moment) come out and not worry about being perfect.

Danica McKellar Gives Birth to a Dragon

Danica McKellar (known as "Winnie" on the popular television series, The Wonder Years) gave birth to a baby boy Tuesday night and named him Draco, after the constellation Draco, the Dragon, which is found hovering close to the north star, Polaris, and falls between Ursa Major and Ursa Minor. This constellation has been sometimes seen as a snake or serpent as well.

Bernadette Brady says in her book, Brady's Book of Fixed Stars: "In 2700 B.C., when it occupied the pole position, the Dragon rotated around the 'unmoving point of the world' like the hands of a clock, in a reverse direction, guarding its center." Dragons have been long seen as guardians of great treasures such as sacred golden applies, rowan berries, or gold and jewels.

Baby Draco has three planets in Virgo: Sun, Moon, and Mercury in Virgo. Draco will always have a strong urge to improve himself and constantly grow, and probably have a strong curiosity with Mercury so close to his Sun and Moon, which are some of the strongest planets in a chart in general.

When the Sun and Moon are conjunct each other, there is often an instinct for nurturing which is especially true for Draco since his south node is also in Cancer, a nurturing and protective sign. Perhaps there's some of that 'guardian' instinct showing through!

Valentina Keeps It Real

At the wise and worldly age of 2-1/2, Valentina Pinault does not believe in Santa Claus.

Mom Salma says,

"No matter what I say to her, she just doesn't buy it, and she's 2 1/2. I refuse to give it up. I say, 'There is a Santa Claus,' and she says, 'Okay, Mommy. In pretend world, right?' She really doesn't believe. There's nothing I can say to make her believe in Santa Claus."

It may surprise mom, but it's no surprise to Mlle. Kiddie! This kiddo was born with such a level head, she's going to be schooling her mom on the ways of the world before long.

Her south node, Sun, and Saturn all lie in the sign of Virgo, which is a no-nonsense, "just the facts, ma'am" kind of sign. She notices and pays attention to the details and tries to determine how likely something is based on those facts. On top of all of that, her moon lies in the sign of Capricorn, also an earthy, no-nonsense sign. She feels more comfortable (moon) in the realm of the practical and sensible, finding a sturdiness and reliability in it that nurtures her.


The thing that tips the scales entirely, though, is Saturn in Virgo, right next to her south node. The planet Saturn deals with all things in the realm of the real: the yes and no's, is or isn'ts of the world. With Saturn guiding us, we mature by learning how to create and make things real and the limits of what we can and can't do. Valentina was born an inherent sense of the natural laws in life. Her north node lies in Pisces, which is about embracing the fantastical, the mysteries of life, and the imagination. Over time, she'll learn how she can still keep her feet on the ground but dream with the best of them. Mlle. No Spoilers for Sadie & Sunny Sandler

Adam Sandler recently said in an interview that he is concerned about his kids being spoiled and does his part to ensure that his girls, Sadie (4) and Sunny (almost 2) are grateful for what they have. He says to the Toronto Sun:

“The idea of my kids being spoiled, I go to sleep thinking about it and I wake up thinking about it ... I try to do the right thing, but with the amount of money I have, it’s difficult to raise the children the way I was raised.”

That's not a sentence you usually hear from wealthy parents, but Adam has a whopping 5 planets all clustered in humble Virgo. Virgo is a sign that is built on the foundation of constantly striving to better itself and to feel like the work they do is always at its best; Virgo also holds itself to very high standards at that, so it doesn't like to 'rest on laurels'.
