Valentina Knows Best

Selma Hayek stars in Savages this weekend, and she is, of course, adamant that her 4-year-old daughter, Valentina, will not be seeing the "drug cartel drama" (good parenting, ha!) But in a recent appearance on The Tonight Show, Salma says:

"Actually, this was the only movie that she was not on the set. I usually bring her on the set and she always likes to sit right next to the monitor and she bosses everyone around."

Future director, eh? Mlle. Kiddie is not surprised. Valentina has the Sun, south node, and Saturn all in the sign of Virgo. Virgo is a sign of many talents, and one of them is being well-organized, practical, and yes, bossy. Virgos often think they know best, and the trouble is (for those around them), they're usually right! 

Valentina also has the moon in Capricorn, which is known as the sign of the manager, among other things, a sign meant to be in charge because they are practical like Virgo, but can also see the bigger picture, good at managing projects with lots of components. They get things done! She would whip everyone on a movie set into shape in no time flat!

Valentina: Like Mother, Like Daughter

Valentina is a young woman who knows what she wants! Mom Salma Hayek revealed Valentina's intended career plans in a recent interview:

"She told me two days ago, she was very serious looking out the window in the car, and she turned and said: 'You know what, mom? I want to be an actress, like now.'"

Valentina has a Capricorn Moon, which reflects a strong orientation toward setting and achieving goals, but it's in her second house of resources, so she will need to test herself to gain confidence in her abilities.

Luckily, Valentina's got a lot on her side. Not only does she have two successful parents, but Jupiter in her first house in its own sign of Sagittarius, which reveals an optimistic and confident personality. She'll almost always be inclined to believe in herself and try, try again. But she's not naive. Her hard-working Capricorn Moon is in an easy trine with her Virgo Sun in her tenth house of career, so she was born to shine (Sun) for working hard at her craft (Virgo, Capricorn).

Mom Salma is already working that humble and industrious Virgo:

"I like to teach her things like chores and to help in the kitchen and make her bed," she explains. "I think it's important to do those things. She's becoming a really good helper. I'm very proud of her. She's very organized, very neat."

A Virgo Sun very neat? To say the least!

Yes, Valentina, There IS a Santa Claus!

Valentina Pinault participates in a long-time tradition and sits on Santa's lap while mom Salma snaps a pic. What does Mlle. Kiddie think she might have told Santa she wants for the holidays?

With the multitude of earthy focus in Valentina's chart, such as a Virgo Sun, a Capricorn Moon and even grounded Saturn riding on her South Node, we might imagine practical gifts pleasing this gal. But appointment books and drawer organizers probably won't excite a 3-year-old! Keeping it practical for a 3 year old would probably mean a focus on hands-on toys, like building blocks or Play-doh.

The Sun and Moon sign can tell you a lot about a child's interests, but planets traditionally known for what they can tell you about joy, pleasure, and what we want, we look to Jupiter and Venus. In Valentina's chart, they are both in the fire signs Sagittarius and Leo, respectively. Fire signs are more about active, demonstrative and imaginative play, so Valentina might have asked Santa for something like a dress-up trunk of clothes, an adventure/explorer's kit, or active games like Twister or even a jump-rope.

Mlle. Kiddie has the feeling, though, that whatever she whispered in Santa's ear had little to do with what she wants for the holidays, and more like "who are you, really?" because as we found out earlier this year, Valentina doesn't actually believe in Santa Claus!

Valentina Keeps It Real

At the wise and worldly age of 2-1/2, Valentina Pinault does not believe in Santa Claus.

Mom Salma says,

"No matter what I say to her, she just doesn't buy it, and she's 2 1/2. I refuse to give it up. I say, 'There is a Santa Claus,' and she says, 'Okay, Mommy. In pretend world, right?' She really doesn't believe. There's nothing I can say to make her believe in Santa Claus."

It may surprise mom, but it's no surprise to Mlle. Kiddie! This kiddo was born with such a level head, she's going to be schooling her mom on the ways of the world before long.

Her south node, Sun, and Saturn all lie in the sign of Virgo, which is a no-nonsense, "just the facts, ma'am" kind of sign. She notices and pays attention to the details and tries to determine how likely something is based on those facts. On top of all of that, her moon lies in the sign of Capricorn, also an earthy, no-nonsense sign. She feels more comfortable (moon) in the realm of the practical and sensible, finding a sturdiness and reliability in it that nurtures her.


The thing that tips the scales entirely, though, is Saturn in Virgo, right next to her south node. The planet Saturn deals with all things in the realm of the real: the yes and no's, is or isn'ts of the world. With Saturn guiding us, we mature by learning how to create and make things real and the limits of what we can and can't do. Valentina was born an inherent sense of the natural laws in life. She's less likely than most kids to believe that a bearded man flies through the air and delivers toys to the entire world in one night.

Her north node lies in Pisces, which is about embracing the fantastical, the mysteries of life, and the imagination. Over time, she'll learn how she can still keep her feet on the ground but dream with the best of them. Mlle. Kiddie encourages mom Salma to keep trying to show Valentina the whimsical side of life, but perhaps with fewer lies, however well-intended. Valentina can smell those a mile away!

Hayek's Valentina Gets Valentine From Paris

Selma Hayek's daughter Valentina has gotten a Valentine from Paris, her Mom and Dad, French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault got married on Valentine's day at the City Hall in Paris' chic 6th arrondissement, according to an official there.

Valentina was born September 21, 2007 in LA. A little Virgo, she probably likes things in order, and will appreciate this "darn romantic" Valentine news of Cupid arranging to have her parents married in one of the most romantic places on the planet.

The Mexican born Hayek is also a Virgo with a Moon in Aries.

Her daughter is a Virgo with a Moon in Capricorn. Earth sign
