Selma Blair Gives Birth to a Saint

Selma Blair and her husband, Jason Bleick, welcomed son Arthur Saint last Monday, the 25th of July. No birth time was publicly announced, so whether this new little boy joining the ranks of Leo Suns has a Taurus Moon or a Gemini Moon, Mlle. Kiddie can't be sure, but one thing is for sure, he'll be sounding off right from the start with his Mars and his South Node close together in Gemini!

From Arthur's Kiddiegram:
Mars in Gemini:
Arthur Saint is a busy bee, always active, restless, and on-the-go, but he tends to lack concentration and stamina. He tends to run on nervous energy. He uses cleverness, words, and reasoning power to defend himself rather than force.
The South Node tends to show up right away in children, sometimes even before they display the traits of their sun signs, so he may appear very "Geminian" early in his life--wanting lots of stimulus, probably talking and reading very early, as well as walking early (an extra curious kid needs to get around and see the world, don't ya know!), as well as possibly not sleeping as much as some kids (sorry mom and dad!) Gemini is very active and restless energy, so they may not get too lucky with Arthur sleeping through the night. Here's hoping he was born earlier in the day with a Taurus Moon, so mom and dad can sleep here and there!

Congrats to the new family!

Honor Marie Excited to Be New Mom

Apparently, Jessica Alba's daughter, Honor, has decided to start her own family at the tender age of 3. Jessica visited Jay Leno at The Tonight Show and said that her daughter is excited about being a big sister but has decided that “she’s going to actually be the mommy" and mom will be the grandma. When asked by a friend of Jessica's if she was excited about being a big sister, Honor replied, "Yeah, because I’m going to be a grown-up. I’m going to drink vino and drive."

Don't laugh, mom! Honor has Capricorn Rising, so she takes growing up quite seriously. From Honor's Kiddiegram:
Capricorn Ascendant
"Honor wants to know how the real, adult world operates, and she may appear more mature and also more serious and watchful than one might expect of a young person. She likes to be given responsibilities, taken seriously, and treated like a capable person in her own right."
She's also got Jupiter in Capricorn very close to her Ascendant, so she will not only want to take on big responsibilities to prove herself, but she'll be quite confident she can do it! Jupiter Rising people tend to lead with confidence and optimism. Jupiter in Capricorn is a great astrological ally: realistic enough to carry through on one's plans, but optimistic enough to dream big. Maybe not big enough to be a mommy at 3 years old, but a responsible big sister? Absolutely!

Extraordinary Children: Greyson Chance

Greyson Chance, 13, is a junior high school student who recently went from being "a nobody in Oklahoma to hanging out with Lady Gaga!" He appeared on the Ellen (DeGeneres) Show after a YouTube video of him performing Lady Gaga's hit, Paparazzi, went viral in 2010. Here he is performing that same song on the show:

Greyson is a Leo, and like most Leos, has a desire to express himself in a way that fuses personality and creativity together powerfully. He entered this life with a Pisces south node, so he's channeling that Piscean sensitivity and imagination through this creative urge. On the Ellen show, he told Ellen that he's "never taken a voice lesson." He also said, "I write my songs for meaning. I either live them or feel them."

He definitely comes from the heart, although with his Venus, Mercury, and north node in Virgo, he'll benefit greatly from refining his creative (and personal) vision to really turn it into something to be proud of on a personal level. He seems to be well on his way to having opportunities to do just that with his first album debuting this fall!

Another young star with an amazing voice: Jackie Evancho.

Mommy Styles: Moon Signs and Mothering

There's lots of new (and 'renewed') moms in Hollywood this summer! Victoria Beckham had baby girl Harper Seven, Kate Hudson welcomed Bingham Hawn, Pink has a brand new love, Willow Sage, and Alicia Silverstone had her baby Bear Blu, to mention only a few. When it comes to being a mom, everyone has lots of advice to give, but the bottom line tends to be "do what you think is best" by relying on your natural mothering instincts.

Astrology knows the mothering instinct is primarily governed by Moon. The Moon in a mom's chart represents their style of nurturing and protecting their little ones. Here's a look at each of these Hollywood mom's styles according to their moon signs:

Victoria Beckham
Mom to 3 boys and new baby girl Harper Seven

Aquarius Moon

An Aquarius Moon mommy's primary goal is to discover and foster their child's individuality. They don't tend to be too overprotective or overbearing, preferring to take a more hands-off stance and let their child find out what works for them, with guidance, of course. Being an air sign, Aquarius Moon mommies will encourage their child to communicate, learn, and be objective. Victoria has already been known to encourage her children to be aware of others, especially those less fortunate than them, a common Aquarian trait. Harper's moon is in Scorpio, so she may may be a little more emotional and intense than mom.

Alicia Silverstone
Mom to new baby boy Bear Blu
Pisces Moon

A Pisces Moon mommy has a big heart, and wants to pour out the love on her little one. Emotional bonding and sensitivity is high on their list, which can make mommy and baby extremely close. Techniques such as attachment parenting might be something a Pisces Moon mom would like, which is a technique that focuses on developing a child's sense of empathy and fostering a close child-parent bond. Alicia will be highly sensitive to the emotional needs of Bear. Bear has a Gemini Moon, so he'll love that nurturing but will want lots of room to explore his curiosity and less likely to be as tenderhearted as mom.

Pink
Mom to new baby girl Willow Sage

Aries Moon

An Aries Moon mommy will encourage her child to explore and try new things. Not likely to be too overprotective, Aries Moon moms know that life is messy and they don't try to keep their children from making messes and living life to the fullest. Pink will likely enjoy a very active life with Willow. Aries Moon moms also tend to like playful teasing, nicknames, and physical play like tickle fights. They are not likely too be too gushy or sentimental, sometimes more of a fan of tough love, but nurture their children with affection and loyalty. Willow has a Gemini Moon, so she'll probably appreciate mom giving her lots of leeway to allow her curiosity to get her into creative trouble!

Kate Hudson Mom to new baby boy Bingham Hawn Capricorn Moon
A Capricorn Moon mommy really likes to keep their eye on the ball and takes the responsibility of raising their children seriously. Capricorn likes to see achievement and wants to help their child gain maturity through taking on their own responsibilities and moving them toward independence. Capricorn Moon moms may be a fan of tools like responsibility charts and award/allowance systems to help their child grow. Kate may seem rather laid back on the outside (she's got cheerful Jupiter parked on her Ascendant, signifying an overall optimistic and laid-back outlook on life), but she'll want to make sure her kids are well-equipped to grow into responsible adults. Bingham's Moon lies in Scorpio so he'll probably be more focused on his feeling experience rather than just what's practical or efficient.

Harper Seven Crashes the Beckham Boys' Club

Victoria and David Beckham became parents for the 4th time on July 10th, when baby girl Harper Seven, crashed the Beckham Boys' Club, long established with the birth of three boys in a row: Pisces Brooklyn Joseph (12), Virgo Romeo James (8), and Pisces Cruz David (5).

While mom Victoria has always been a fan of the name Harper, the baby's middle name, Seven, is significant for several reasons. Not only is it dad's jersey number, but Harper was born in the 7th hour of the day on the 7th day of the week and the 7th month of the year. It may also be spiritually significant to the couple, who participate in the Kabbalah movement, which says that 7 is a number of wholeness and completion. Perhaps with the birth of a daughter, they finally feel their family is complete!

Harper's chart is known as a Splash chart pattern, because of the wide distribution of planets all over the chart, which suggests a well-rounded personality with diverse interests, although it can indicate someone who's energies can be scattered in as many directions as their interests!

It's likely that this little girl is going to be very bright, talkative, and have excellent powers of observation. She has the planet Mercury, which represents learning, communication, and observation, right on her Ascendant, so it's the planet she 'leads' with in life. In Leo, she can be quite charming, so she may be able to talk others around her little finger!

She also has her south node in Gemini in the 11th house, indicating that what comes naturally to her (south node) is observations about the world at large, and a natural way of investigating everything she can. Mars is also in Gemini in the 11th house, revealing a strong motivation (Mars) to satisfy her curiosity about the world (11th house). She won't be satisfied with her small little corner of the world for long, so it's a good thing she's been born into a family where she doesn't lack for travel opportunities.

This little one's curiosity will know no bounds, and she'll likely be into everything--the cupboards, mom's purse, whatever she can get her hands on. It's likely she'll crawl and walk early if she can manage it, since satisfying curiosity is much more possible when you can move. With that insightful Moon in Scorpio in the mix, nothing will escape Harper's awareness for long. This girl Seven has a 'sixth sense!'

Pink's Thinking Pink: Welcome Willow Sage

Singer Pink and her husband, Carey Hart, welcomed their first baby on June 2nd in Los Angeles. In a recent interview, Pink described what led her to choose the baby's name, Willow Sage:

“The willow is my favorite tree. I grew up near one. It’s the most flexible tree in nature and nothing can break it — no wind, no elements. It can bend and withstand anything. I love that sentiment. I want that for her.”

“Sage is cleansing and sacred. And it sounded great together. It doesn’t hurt that her last name is Hart — flexible cleansed heart.”

Looking at Willow's natal chart, she just might fit the bill when it comes to her mom's hopes in naming her. Willow was born while both the Sun and Moon were in the sign of Gemini, a mutable sign. The mutable signs are about change; whether it's seeking variety like Gemini, progress like Virgo, or uncharted territory like Sagittarius. Gemini bends reality like a Willow tree bends in the breeze, allowing new information and observations to come in from any direction and let it change how they see things from moment to moment. This allows them to be flexible, because healthy Gemini doesn't allow itself to become so fixed on an idea that they become rigid, shattering when a new idea challenges what they thought they knew.

Willow was also born during the new moon, which is an energy that has a freshness and innocence to it. It is the beginning of a cycle, where everything seems possible and the pull of potential is very strong. Willow embodies the essence of this cycle.

Willow also has Venus and Mars in the sign of Taurus, which is a very different energy from Gemini. While she'll have the open and fresh attitude, she'll also have Taurus to ground her and to experience the world not just from the mental perspective, but in a tangible and experiential way as well. Taurus is a very pure and simple kind of energy: straightforward, stable, and peaceful for the most part. Sage is also often recommended for Taurus when using aromatherapy, because of its cleansing abilities. Taurus likes clean and simple.

Looks like Pink made a good choice for her daughter's name!

Parenting with Astrology: Tiny Bull in a China Shop

Amy Herring has been a professional astrologer for 15 years and a proud mother for 6 of those years. She has joyfully accepted Mlle. Kiddie’s gracious offer to share her thoughts once a month here at Kiddie Star Signs. To find out more about Amy and her personal readings for parents and children, visit her website at http://heavenlytruth.com.

Money and fame don’t solve every problem. Celebrity moms have their hopes and worries for their children too. However, Mlle. Kiddie would like to offer ‘everyday’ moms a chance to see astrology put into action to answer their parenting questions. After all, famous or not, you’re the world to your kids! If you’ve got a question about your child that you’d like Amy to answer, send your questions any time to amy@heavenlytruth.com.

Marla writes:
My daughter Angela is a pretty happy and enthusiastic child, but can be overbearing and hyper. Sometimes it seems like she's the 'bull in a china shop.' She also seems to burn hot and fast all day, just go go go, and then just crash out when she finally falls asleep at night. I'm wondering if this is just because she's so young or if this is part of her personality?

Amy answers:
I first note the fact that Angela's got three planets in Gemini, which can tend to be a rather active sign, especially in children, who live in a world where there is so much to see and do and learn at a rapid rate. It can be a frenetic kind of energy sometimes, like she's going every direction at once.

One thing that could be enhancing it is the planet Neptune right on her Aquarius Ascendant. The Ascendant is where we take in the energy of the world on a moment to moment basis, interacting with our surroundings on an instinctual basis, so it's a sort of gateway to the world at large. Neptune is a planet that is very highly attuned and sensitive, so having it right at this 'gateway' for her heightens her sensitivity to sights, sounds, impressions, and just general raw data she's receiving every minute. It's rather like being overstimulated because one is so sensitive, even if others in the same situation don't feel overwhelmed.

Watch closely to see how she reacts in situations that are loud, crazy, crowded, or with a lot going on. Some children (and adults) shut down in situations like this and avoid them. Even if she doesn't do this in an obvious way (crying or hiding), the symptoms of overwhelm may still be present, such as a lack of ability to concentrate, or absorbing the energy around her and then going from active to overly hyper in the blink of an eye as if the energy she absorbed has filled her up and needs to exit somehow. These might be good times to see if you can remove her from the situation and get a little more quiet so she can focus and calm down. She's got her Moon in Taurus, so she has a real emotional need for a sense of stability and calm, which can make it even more important to be aware when she's overstimulated, and might also explain why she seems to 'burn out and crash' rather than simply relax and fall asleep.

It's likely that with that Taurus Moon, and Mars in Cancer, she will mellow out a bit as she gets older. She's got her south node in Scorpio, which is a very intense energy, and she's working toward her north node in Taurus, which is a more calming, stable energy. She'll probably always have a bit of an eccentric side, which most will probably find quite charming, but as she gets older she can learn to channel the energy she absorbs rather than have it overwhelm her, learning to stabilize herself. Until then, as her parent, you can help her by providing stability, calming exercises, and awareness of her needs.

Would you like some input on how to understand and nurture your child in the most effective way for their unique needs? Amy offers readings for parents and children; find out more at her website.

Tick Tock: Beyonce's Baby Clock

In a recent interview with Piers Morgan, Beyoncé told him over tea that she couldn't wait to be 30, although she did think she'd have a baby by the time she was 30:

"I feel like 30 is the ideal age, because you're mature enough to know who you are and have your boundaries and your standards and not be afraid or too polite, but young enough to be a young woman. I'm so looking forward to it."

"I always said I'd have a baby at 30. I'm 29. But I also said I was going to retire at 30. I'm not retiring."
This kind of talk about turning 30 is not uncommon. Feeling like it's time to grow up, feeling like one is (or should be) more mature, and starting to think about settling down and raising a family can happen at any age, but that clock seems to really get ticking when approaching and crossing the threshold of one's 30th birthday. Part of this is the cultural recognition that once you're out of the teenage years and have done enough experimenting and 'finding yourself', you should start to become a solid member of society, so there's cultural pressure, but it also can come from the inside.

Beyoncé's statements are very consistent with an astrological phenomenon that everyone experiences between the ages of 29 and 30: the Saturn return, when Saturn makes its way entirely around your natal chart and returns to the place it was at the time of your birth. When Saturn returns, we are prompted to evaluate our life, think about what we want to commit to and build, to make real in our life.

Beyoncé's birth time is not publicly known, so a sunrise chart has been cast. While Mlle. Kiddie does not know what house Saturn falls in for Beyoncé, we know it is in Libra and in a conjunction with Jupiter, a planet of expansion, growth, potential, optimism, and belief (faith as well as confidence in oneself and life).

With Jupiter right next to Saturn, she tends to reach no lower than the stars (Jupiter) with whatever goals she decides she wants to accomplish (Saturn). If that turns out to be a baby, not much will stop her! But no doubt, her Saturn return will see her entering a bigger and better phase of her life, feeling optimistic and grounded. In the sign of Libra, perhaps issues of relationship may be evaluated in her life, deepening commitments to those she wants to keep in her life, and considering which ones she's outgrown (or needs to outgrow).

Mlle. Kiddie will certainly be at the ready to cast a chart if Beyoncé decides a 'pitter patter' is in her future!
