Prince William: All Grown Up

The world was enraptured when the "people's princess," Princess Diana, gave birth to her first son and heir, Prince William Arthur Phillip Louis, on the first day of summer, June 21, 1982.

With his Sun and Moon in the sign of Cancer, it's no wonder he's been said to have inherited the big heart of his mother, Diana, also a Cancer. Diana was known as the people's princess because she was so accessible, openhearted, and down-to-earth, rather than the reserved and stuffy royal that she was expected to be. She taught her children to be the same way, being a hands-on mom even though a royal nanny was available and taking her boys out into the world with her when she participated in charity work.

William is no stranger to duty and leadership, of course, being royalty and always in the public eye. With his Capricorn south node in the 1st house, he entered this life with a propensity toward knowing how to follow the rules, carry out his duties, and shoulder the burden of responsibility. But with his Sun and Moon in the sign of Cancer, and his north node in Cancer in the 7th house, his mother was an excellent example to help him take that sense of responsibility and give it heart, warmth, and sincerity.

On the eve of Prince William's marriage to his own princess, Mlle. Kiddie wishes blessings of happiness, health, and longevity to the happy couple!

Signature Taurus Star Child: Apple Martin

Apple Martin is our featured Taurus "Star Child" and Mlle. Kiddie is delighted to share her entire Kiddiegram report with you. The Kiddiegram reports are the heart and soul of Kiddiegram, because they were created out of a desire to help you understand and nurture your precious one. It's truly a "user's manual!"
"What is amazing about [a Kiddiegram], is that you can read it as your son grows. Read it when you get it, then put it away with his birth record. In years to come you both will read it again! Yes, you will be amazed!"

Apple will be 7 years old next month (May 14th). Parents Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin no doubt have a splendid birthday party planned. Last year boasted a petting zoo at Apple's request, and for her 4th birthday, it was a piƱata, a bouncy castle and princess fairy paint.

Gwyneth was recently interviewed in Self magazine and mentioned the family's active routine, including the fact that Apple "is really into ballet and Flamenco dancing now!" Mlle. Kiddie can see why: the drama and romance of Flamenco certainly suits her style with Venus in the 5th house:
If Apple shows any inclination toward art or creative expression, she should be encouraged to develop her gifts in these areas. She also enjoys activities that require style, grace, and beauty, (e.g., figure skating or dancing).

Happy Birthday Taurus Kids!

The Sun is in Taurus from April 20th to May 21st this year. Happy birthday to all those Taurus kiddos (and mommies and daddies)!

In pop astrology books, you'll see the same word every time when you read about Taurus: stubborn. But most of the time, stubborn misses the mark of the depth of this earthy sign. Stubbornness is only one potential side effect of what Taurus is all about: stability. Taurus keeps both feet on the ground as it marches steadily through life, following its own inner rhythm. Of course, sometimes it has to plant its feet to keep from being pushed over by life, because Taurus won't be pushed around!

Their stubbornness doesn't preclude the fact that they can actually be rather easy-going. They like to go with the flow and just do what feels natural to them, in their own time. They also tend to be affectionate and easily make others feel comfortable with their down-to-earth, casual demeanor.

Roman Robert Upton (second son of Cate Blanchett, seen to the right in blue) will celebrate his 7th birthday this weekend, probably with his family but no doubt also including family friends Hugh & fellow Taurus Oscar Jackman.

Here's a paragraph from Roman's featured Kiddiegram:

He has a great fondness for beautiful things and for comfort, and he has a pleasure-loving side which borders on laziness at times. A love of nature is also very strong within him, and he is more suited to the natural rhythms of country life than to an urban environment. Tending a garden or building with natural materials would be very satisfying to him. He has a very practical nature, and he likes to see some tangible results for his efforts. When explaining something to him, it is much more effective to demonstrate it concretely for him, rather than simply telling him.
Roman has an active and mercurial Gemini Moon, which compliments his stable Taurus Sun by adding an element of restlessness and curiosity, which will keep that Taurus Sun moving at a steady clip!

Big Brother Ryder

In the May issue of In Style Magazine, Kate Hudson talks about meeting Muse front man and current honey (and dad-to-be) Matthew Bellamy and having her second child with him. Kate is due in mid July, and while it's still a mystery, Kate suspects a girl!

Ryder's dad, Chris Robinson, has already made Ryder a big brother once, with his Capricorn sister, Cheyenne Genevieve, born in 2009. Mlle. Kiddie has no doubt that Ryder is a great big brother. With his Capricorn Sun and Cancer Moon, he will probably enjoy the responsibility of being the Older brother, showing his younger siblings how to do all kinds of grown-up stuff, and yet with his tender Cancer Moon, he is a nurturer at heart as well. Traditional astrology tells us that Cancer is a natural mothering energy, while Capricorn is a natural fathering energy, so Ryder's got the best of both worlds!

He's also his mom's protector, according to Kate, telling her she shouldn't eat spicy foods and that she shouldn't be driving. He's certainly made to be a protective big brother. He'll probably keep the bullies away!

In families, one often sees sign patterns repeated. Ryder's sister Cheyenne, is a Capricorn, just like Ryder, and if this new baby comes close to the due date, Kate and Matthew will be welcoming a Cancer baby, which is a great fit for Ryder's Cancer Moon. Sounds like a great family!

Kiddie School Days: Violet, Suri, and Shiloh

Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner were seen checking out a possible school this week for their daughter, Violet, who will be attending Kindergarten this year. Suri Cruise, and Shiloh Jolie-Pitt will also be of Kindergarten age come this fall. Mlle. Kiddie is curious to know what subjects will be near and dear to these youngster's hearts as they grow and how they'll take on the big K grade!

Violet Affleck
Violet has both the Sun and Moon in the sign of the adventurer, Sagittarius. It won't be enough for her to just learn about something, she'll want to dig in and experience it first hand. She'll probably learn best when she's able to test the concepts herself, not just seeing them demonstrated. Her Sun and Moon are also in the 6th house, so she'll really like to put things to practical use again. "Let's see it in action" will need to be her motto! Sports that keep her active and having fun on the playground, or science like biology that have her on field trips to her local zoos or aquariums might be favorites.

Suri Cruise
Suri may not have much appreciation for the daily diligence and formal school rules--she's the experimenting type. With her Aquarius Rising, she approaches the world from the view of the rebel, and doesn't appreciate falling in line with the system. An approach of creativity and freedom will suit Suri just fine, although with an expansive Sagittarius Moon and Neptune on her Ascendant, you'll need to catch her attention first! Art and dance might be high on Suri's list.

Shiloh Jolie-Pitt
One thing's for sure, Shiloh won't be able to pick just one subject as her favorite! With the Sun, Moon, and Mercury in the curious and mentally active sign of Gemini, she's here to learn everything she can about everything, moving on when she gets bored. Keeping up with her interests will be her teacher's challenge. She will like to ask questions and understand everything she can. No doubt she's already reading by now!

Heidi Klum's Full House

In the May issue of Good Housekeeping Magazine, Heidi Klum shared some fun tidbits about each of her four children: Leni (6), Henry (5), Johan (4), and baby Lou (18 months).

Of Leni, Heidi says she’s “the lawyer type. She has wits and ways to manipulate anyone into whatever she wants. And you know what? Sometimes if she has a good point, I let her have what she wants.” She must be working her Venus & Mars conjunction in Gemini with some skill, it sounds like! Venus in Gemini knows how to establish a connection with someone through communication, and with Mars (planet of action) close by, she'll be able to present her point to get what she wants while charming (Venus) the pants off her audience!

Henry is very artistic. “He lives in his own world," Heidi says. Apparently a recent family dinner involved some fluffy green dinosaur-feet slippers as dinner attire, which was "not weird at all" for him. Gotta love his Aquarius Moon obviously in action, which has him setting and following his own rules. Aquarius embodies the classic phrase "marching to the tune of one's own drummer," and it sounds like Henry will be marching to that drummer in dinosaur slippers!

Johan is the avid reader. "He’s always the one with a book under the arm and he always wants to know 'What is that?' He’s that 'why-why-why?' kid.” With Gemini Rising, this kid is here to learn everything, that's for sure. The Rising Sign is the style and attitude with which we move out into the world and interact with it. Gemini at this gateway wants to gather all the information it can, and with a Sagittarius Sun, he's going to want to have as many experiences as he can too! A know-it-all and a do-it-all ... watch out, world!

And finally, Heidi says of baby Lou (the thinker), "she's very observant." With Mercury conjunct Saturn in Virgo, she's developing an rigorous attunement to detail. Heidi also says, "it's probably quite a trip being born into a family where you have three older siblings. Boy, they pull her around. They don't leave her out." With Lou's laid-back Taurus Rising, she probably doesn't mind too much!

A Lighthearted Look at the 'Buffy Moms'

Although the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer has been off the air for almost 8 years (yet still has a strong fan base), most of the Buffy girls have moved on into new roles, including adding New Mom to their resumes!

Leo Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia) was the first Buffy mom, giving birth to Aries baby boy Donovan Charles in 2003. Exactly 6 years later, Alyson Hannigan (Willow) had an Aries baby girl, Satyana Maria. That same fall, Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy), had a Virgo baby girl, Charlotte Grace.

So did this crime fighting threesome (albeit on television only) give birth to the next watcher, the next slayer, and the next charming witch?

Donovan Charles: Future Slayer?
Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy) certainly played the Slayer, but of this second generation threesome, Donovan would be the likely candidate. His Scorpio Rising observes keenly and has sharp instincts, so nothing much gets past him. His Aries Sun in the 5th house also adds an element of playfulness, and Mercury, the planet of the mind, so close to his sun, gives him the quickness and agility he needs not only to react instantly to slay a vampire, but the ability to make a pithy comment on the fly. All the tools a Slayer needs!

His Capricorn Moon enables him to be a self-starter, and to focus on what needs to be done. Capricorn Moons can sometimes feel like they shoulder the weight of the world, and often do their best to live up to those expectations with integrity.

Satyana Maria Denisof: Mischievous Witch?
One look at little Sati and we can see that mischievous (and adorable!) sparkle in her eye. She's got all kinds of magic in her little fingers that would make her the perfect candidate for her mom's role of Willow. She charms us with Venus conjunct her Sun, knowing the right things to do to make us smile and adore her.

With her wealth of planets in Pisces, including the moon and Mars, she has a gentle and sweet heart, but is also deeply tapped into the realm of intuition and imagination. Yes, Satyana, we believe in fairies and magic when you're around!

Charlotte Grace Prinze: Future Watcher?
Charlotte is 'Grace-ful' indeed. With three planets in Virgo, she knows the rules and has the capability to do things right, but with a Libra Moon and Mars in Cancer, she's got style, grace, and compassion. Virgos are the most detail-oriented of the zodiac; noticing and thinking of all the little things that others may miss makes her an excellent problem solver. Mercury is also conjunct her Sun, coupled with disciplined Saturn, so her patience and ability to find and organize research makes her an excellent candidate to take on the Watcher role.

With Mars in Cancer, her desire to protect and care for others might make her a little too attached to her Slayer, but in the grand tradition of Giles, that's not half bad!

A New Boxer Has Entered the Ring! Sydney (Ali) Conway

Hopefully little Sydney didn't 'come out fightin' too hard, but she did come out rather early in the morning! Laila Ali (daughter of Muhammad Ali) and her husband Curtis welcomed Sydney at 3:00 am on Monday, April 4th in Los Angeles. The couple already has a son, Curtis, age 2-1/2.

Sydney has a whopping six planets (Uranus, Mars, Sun, Jupiter, Moon, and Mercury) in the sign of Aries. This kiddo's got spunk! She will be learning to take initiative, believe in herself, and just go for it. Sounds a lot like mom! Mom Laila has stated that there will be no more boxers in her family, including both her children. She has also said that her own father tried to talk her out of it, but when she saw women's boxing for the first time, she was "in awe, because I didn't know women even boxed ... and from that moment I knew I wanted to do it."

With 6 planets in Aries, there are many ways for Sydney to test herself and her courage other than boxing, but wanting to follow in mom's footsteps certainly doesn't seem at all out of the astrological spectrum. Planets in the 2nd house are representative of the drive to test ourselves and believe in ourselves. Sydney is learning courage, and to risk. She will do well, soulfully speaking, whenever she bets on herself and dares to find out what she's made of, even if the outcome isn't a 'win' by external standards.

But with mom's and grandpa's genes and this chart ... I think this kid might give mom a run for her money!

Parenting with Astrology: Fostering Talents

Amy Herring has been a professional astrologer for 15 years and a proud mother for 5 of those years. She has joyfully accepted Mlle. Kiddie’s gracious offer to share her thoughts once a month here at Kiddie Star Signs. To find out more about Amy and her personal readings for parents and children, visit her website at http://heavenlytruth.com.

Money and fame don’t solve every problem. Celebrity moms have their hopes and worries for their children too. However, Mlle. Kiddie would like to offer ‘everyday’ moms a chance to see astrology put into action to answer their parenting questions. After all, famous or not, you’re the world to your kids! If you’ve got a question about your child that you’d like Amy to answer, send your questions any time to amy@heavenlytruth.com.

Petra writes:
I'm asking about my daughter, Magdalena. What will be her talents, so that I could direct her efforts in the right direction, in order to help her find her true vocation?

Amy answers:
Taking a look at her chart overall, with her south node in Cancer, this soul has become accustomed to life 'attached at the hip' so as a child, she may be more clingy and need reassurance, shelter, and comfort more often. Separation anxiety may be prominent and prolonged as she develops in her second year. But as she grows, she will become more accustomed to working with all her Capricorn and Aquarius energies, which compel her toward individuality, independence, and self-reliance. She will be learning to focus more and more on herself, learning to take her own needs and opinions seriously, rather than defaulting to what another person wants, whether it's a parent, a friend, a teacher, etc.

The south node is always strongest in childhood, and we can often see natural talents represented by the south node. She has a knack for taking care of others, always seeking to make another comfortable and shelter them. As she grows, she may have a strong affinity for pets, baby dolls, or even other, smaller children and babies, because she senses their vulnerability and their need to be protected. This talent will always be with her, even as she's learning to put it into perspective with her own needs so she doesn't give too much away to everyone else and leave nothing for herself.

Looking more closely at specifics in her chart to help her develop natural interests and talents, her Sun Venus conjunction stands out. The Sun, representative of the basic components of her sense of identity, is linked with Venus, the planet of beauty and the desire for connection. This could indicate an interest in artistic pursuits, coupled with her dramatic Mars in Leo, or it could be that she directs this energy more easily into relationship, teaching or working with others. This would go well with her already natural tendency to care for others. Venus also rules her Midheaven, which represents, in part, vocation, which elevates its importance in the theme of her chart.

Her 6th house, also often indicative of work and a clue to vocation, falls within the sign of Gemini, which draws our attention to Gemini's ruling planet, Mercury. Mercury is in the first house of self, right on top of Pluto. This can represent a strong voice, with powerful opinions and penetrating insights. As she develops self-confidence, her voice and her desire and ability to share it, will grow. Earlier in her life, she's not likely to be a very demonstrative girl, maybe even leaning toward the shy or reserved side. As she grows into her Sagittarius Rising and learns a thing or two about herself and the world, she will benefit from encouragement to share what she really thinks and the validation of her opinion--not that she is right, but that she has the right to have an opinion at all is the key for developing her voice.

Would you like some input on how to understand and nurture your child in the most effective way for their unique needs? Amy offers readings for parents and children; find out more at her website.
